The Green Green Grass - DVD purchase? Page 2

Sorry, there's been some confusion. I wasn't reviewing your review, I was reviewing The Green Green Grass.

Lol.

:D

I'm so sorry Lee, I thought you meant my review on Amazon - I've PMed you.

I've found myself rather craving my weekly re-dose of TGGG after a long day at work. Can't wait for the new series.

I bought a copy of 'Hot Fuzz' today from Tesco for only £10. It's one of those one week promotions which I reckon is excellent value. I even managed to get a copy of 'Borat' in the first week of release for just £9 from Morrisons in a similar promo.

Off to Tesco's I go then! I didn't catch this at the cinema so want to get it on DVD as it is supposed to be very funny!

:)

It is, has some great lines in it, although it does drag in some parts, but not many.

Sometimes, I find (with the exception of Spaced) anything with Nick frost in Drags more than a little.

But Simon Pegg is very funny, even if he cut me up in North London in his Mazda and then again a year later in Swansea.

Book him, Danno.

Me and Dad went to see Hot Fuzz when it came out, and it really is a great film. It kinds helps if you've seen Midsummer Murders, though - which we have - as it helps to see where Simon Pegg is coming from if you have.

Parody is difficult to do, because the original has to be recognised while still approaching it form a fresh angle.

it's also one of the laziest forms of writing, because there is no work at all involved in plotting...

Something I think Spaced manages to do.

And The Scary Movies don't, f**k I hate them so much.

Scary Movie was just a hyped up vehicle for something which had absolutely nothing to offer, except the pause facility when that woman was in teh sprinkler system in her bra

The only good thing about them films is Anna Faris, she's a little hottie.

I believe you're talking about Carmen Electra, yes that was a good part and quite funny, I suppose.

Well, it wasn't funny...it was just...I have one arm like Woody Woodpecker and the other like Popeye as a result.

Spaced really parodied the trad flat share thing with all the little foibles but did it very well in that it was a parody which stood up on it's own legs.

What I found about it was the flashbacks and little inserts were unusual - for British TV at the time - and I don't think they have been done as well by any UK show since, although many have tried.

It's tricky doing that, even writing it, because it's a central idea developed in a sketch like way without infringing on the narrative format of the sitcom.

More tedious technical bollocks shortly, after these messages...
