I don't want to be a writer, I want to be a procrastinator.

Sounds like a good starting place for a new Sootyj "worst idea for a movie" thread. The Procrastinator - the world is being overrun by predatory aliens while Arnold Schwarzenegger spends an hour sitting in an armchair, staring at his lazer cannon on the floor and wondering if he ought to hoover the carpet.

Dear Auntie BCG,

I work so hard thinking of fresh and original threads but they always degenerate into smiley faces, cock jobs and people pretending to hug each other. That or discussing Jeremy Clarkson's shemale lover (James May). Should I give up or burn down my local Sainsburys?

Dear Sooty,

Have you tried hunting down and killing all members of this BCG thing who ruin your threads, until only the ones who truly appreciate your spirit remain?

I do enjoy writing. I don't plan much and I like seeing what emerges on the page. I also usually write with an alcoholic beverage and a cigarette, which makes it quite a pleasant experience. :)

So many don't seem to though. When I'm working on some music, I continue working on it as soon as I get the chance and am often up till stupidly late because I'm so immersed in it and just can't stop. That's because I love doing it and love spending my time that way. But when I hear so many writers (which I do) looking for tips to get motivated it makes me wonder why they don't just think 'well, maybe I'm just not a writer after all'. Though I can see what zooo is saying.

Sooty allow me to quote from the best,

Claire Rayner on self-exposure

In common with many people born around the 1930s I was reared to be reticent. One did not display oneself. The worst public beating I ever suffered was for turning cartwheels in the park, thus flashing my knickers for all to see. I was eighty at the time.

You see Sooty, in life, anything can happen. So just relax, go with the flow and remember to keep them spread at every available opportunity.

I did but they seem to keep breading.

The thing is, if I had raw video/audio/material to play with and edit, I'd be up all night too. But writing is like the boring planning stage. It's mainly the start that is the hardest part, I think? Once your off, there's no stopping you. Kind of... Errr

He says, with half a million half-finished sitcoms stuffed in his draw :D :P

Seriously, I suppose I can kind of see there's a difference, but then look at all the really prolific writers who seem as enthused about what they're doing as I am. Oh, I dunno!

*shakes fist*

They're not half-finished, they are half-arsed.

I can't see the point of writing if you don't enjoy doing it and don;t have stories you want to tell. There's loads of other creative outlets; producing, performing, etc.

That's exactly my point!

If I had a camera and cast, I'd probably be more happy going out and shooting stuff. But at the minute, my only free outlet for creativity is writing.

I do enjoy it. But I get frustrated with myself because I have no discipline (see first paragraph)
