Replacing Jonathan Ross

Imagine, if only for a moment, you were the new boss of BBC Telly and you needed to save money so you could actually make some decent drama and comedy shows. In order to do this, you have to sack Johnny Ross.

Who would your nominations be to replace him on A) a Friday night chat show and B) Film 2010?

If I had my way, it would be -

A) Dermot O'Leary

B) Charlie Brooker

But what say you?

A) Jeremy Clarkson

B) Ian Hislop

Dan

A: Simon Amstell
B: Mark Kermode

Dermot O'Leary? Dear lord, are you joking?

A - Miranda Hart
B - Jason Solomon

Dermot O'Leary? Dear lord, are you joking?

Hey, don't diss the Dermot, when given the chance, he is actually very, very witty and entertaining. He did a fantastic little documentary on why he loved Star Wars which totally changed my opinion of him.

I like your choice of Simon Amstell.

But Mark Kermode?! The man knows nothing about film, nothing! In fact, I deliberately watch The Culture Show so I can yell at him through my television screen (yeah, I'm a bit weird).

I'd save money even further by hiring an anonymous talking arsehole to do both jobs. Would people be able to tell the switch? Yes, because it would manage to get its lips around R sounds.

You mean, around its rs. How can you bugger up one of the most trundled out gags of modern times??? With respect.

A)That bloke out of Shooting Stars, you know the one.

B) Andrew Collins.

You can't have f**king Mark Kermode. His favourite film is the Exorcist. What a twat!

I sidestepped around it through choice. :)

Fair doos.

Frank Skinner for the chat show.
Mark Lawson for the film show.

Sorted.

Skinner would be a good choice but Mark Lawson?

He doesn't seem capable of expressing a solid opinion about anything - he's great with the research and the appreciation - but lacks any kind of viewpoint or insight.

His criticisms are so even handed that everything comes out as 'it had it's good points and it's bad points'. He is a very nice chap, but I don't want to hear his opinion on something like 2012 or Star Trek.

A) Andrew Sachs

B) Andrew Sachs

He's got such a broad remit on Front Row on Radio 4. Last night they were reviewing the Susan Boyle album! Only caught the end of it, but it didn't really seem to be their kind of thing, surprisingly.

Laughing out loud

John Ross is great at his job and that is why he's apaid alot, a bit too much, yes, but he does interview well and puts humour into anything and anyone he's interviewing.

Although, his radio 2 slot is primarily about himself.

Who'd replace him?..er

Dunno.
