A few posts here and there recently suggested there were a number of "celebs" and well known writers lurking these hallowed boards under pseudonyms.
This may well be the case.
Celebrity comedians are usually funny.
Well-known writers are usually good writers.
Both groups are, by definition, active rather than passive in their fields so would they really be likely to lurk on BCG after having taken the trouble to register?
Many of BCG's funnier and more literate members are known (by virtue of real-life meetings, etc) to be neither celebs nor well-known writers so who's left that might realistically be a celeb?
Well, I've seen newbies with blindingly obvious comedic talent immediately attacked and driven away by established members. Could any of these new people have been celebs?
I'll tell you one thing: if Peter Cook or Spike Milligan had joined BCG, they wouldn't have lasted a single day.
