Eddie Izzard

Eddie Izzard can be proud of himself. He did something very few people have done – in 51 days he completed an astonishing series of 43 marathons!

Eddie's 1,100-mile gallop around the back roads of Britain intended to raise money for charity. Being a celebrity has its specific duties and since Cheryl Cole scaled Kilimanjaro, and David Williams swam the English Channel, physical achievements have become a popular area for self-development for the stars.

If you decide to follow the stand-up comedian's way of life then keep in mind that your day will begin at 6.30am and end with a quick shower, an icy bath, and compression socks on your calves. Some important information you might find useful is that overtraining may lead to sleepless nights and sleeping tablets.

After all those marathons, Eddie Izzard is now busy with radio presenting so listen carefully to hear his voice on The Stanley Baxter Show (Radio 2), and on Chain Reaction (Radio 4).

Fans are eagerly waiting for Eddie Izzard's appearance in the brand new movie Rage, where Jude Law reveals the feminine side of him and Judi Dench and Steve Buscemi

I read about this the other week - it's very admirable, not least because it just seems a tad out of character for him, to me. I mean, I never had him down as a sporty type, so that's what makes it the more impressive.

foreign?

Well, the original poster is from the US. So to her he is.

Cheryl Cole scaled Kilimanjaro

Neither Cheryl Cole nor any of her celebrity friends can be said to have 'scaled' Kilimanjaro. They simply walked along a well-travelled tourist path to the summit.

Come on. If Chris Moyles can do it, how hard can it be?

And before anybody leaps to Cheryl's defence, let's not forget she's the girl who in 2003 punched a toilet attendant's lights out after the poor woman remonstrated with her when the Geordie songbird took a handful of free lollipops from the rest room.

Three cheers for Eddie Izzard, though. There's no easy way to run a marathon.

Especially in a mini skirt and high-heeled boots.

Take them off then Dave.

Eddie is a legend. Glad to hear he's back on our airwaves. I look forward to listening to them.

Off topic but did anyone else see Eddie in The Riches? I loved it and I'm fuming that it's been axed. I want the second series to come out on DVD!!!!!

How is that off-topic?

Surely that's more on-topic than 90% of the posts on here.

That show was amazing. Unfortunately it was on a turdy channel. It would have done great on HBO or Showtime. :(

I thought it was so different. It was on a crap channel over here as well. I used to watch it at 3 or 4am!

I'd make sure I stayed awake just for it.

I just didn't enjoy The Riches, any of the performances, characters or storylines. I do like Izzard, but don't think he's a competent actor or has any screen presence.

On the stage, he's fab! Or at least he was a few years ago. Seems like a decent chap though.

Eddie Izzard is the man. I love his stand up. His DVD live at Wembley Stadium is hilarious. I highly recommend checking it out.

Didn't he do a stand up show in Germany in German? That takes some doing. Doing a comedy act in Germany that is :)
