so guys.....anyone had a chance to compare my version to the BBC1 version?
Does anyone think that it's similar enough for me to have a case here?

I only got through the first couple of pagesof yours Jeff, but wouldn't have thought so. Why don't you get onto top legal beagle jim field who posts on here.
Comedy is a bit like walking a tightrope, you never know what's going to happen and at what point the fall will come. But with Big Top the fall was clear as soon as the opening jokes slapped you around the face.
There seems to be a fear of upsetting anyone with comedy at the moment, but this sitcom steered clear of any offending anyone by removing all the jokes and story.
Incidentally the script editor was Paul Mayhew-Archer who was also in part responsible for the sitcoms Grownups, Coming of Age, Two Pints of Lager, My Hero and My Family.
Big Top = Big Mess.
Someone on either this board or Digital Spy said, jokingly, that 'Big Top' is probably from the creators of the CBBC programme 'Hotel Trubble' but after looking at Daniel Peak's writer filmography on IMDb, that wasn't far from the truth. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1633145/maindetails

Not so much a filmography - more a criminal record.

Paul also wrote An Actor's Life For Me I believe

Five sitcoms each of which is a capital offence against comedy.
Big Top, as bad as it is, is but a misdemeanour compared with any of the above.

Havent seen any...but I would have the same opinion anyway, pure prejudice just by looking at the titles: Grownups, Coming of Age, My Hero, My Family.
They all have names as those Fox TV sitcoms featuring black Americans in afternoon TV with kids selling lemonade in the street and audience laughing as "how funny these kids are"...
And Marc: We all fight for more freedom of mind and to be happier. Nobody rebels for pure masochism. Rebels of yesterday are the establishment of today. So as with The Beatles or U2. Smashing the likes of the writer of the sitcoms mentioned cause we have to evolve, and comedy or sense of humour is more accurate than any IQ test. haha
cheers
Edit: No offence, say USA black sitcoms because I just can't remember the sitcom names. They are playing here now.
I actually really enjoyed this week's episode. Lots of laughs throughout. Tony Robinson is a particularly great comic performer. Looking forward to episode 3.

Yep I agree with you there Aaron, I thought it was great as well. It wasn't the episode advertised in Radio Times though it was the episode scheduled to be shown next week
Yeah, they swapped them around at the last minute. Not sure why. Anyone have any guesses?
I watched about 5 mintues of this and had to switch over. Not even the Krankies could save this turkey.

Perhaps they thought the episode scheduled to be shown wasn't as funny? I'm sure it is though.
The idea for the compensation advert at the beginning was probably stolen from Graham Linehan's office.
