Belgian? Why that's almost French!
That's canard !
When people said something delicious was 'moreish' I thought they meant North African. I was quite happy to believe that they invented chocolate, but the scales fell from my eyes over Jaffa cakes
Quote: catskillz @ November 16 2009, 1:22 PM GMTI used to think Nicholas Lyndhurst sang the OFAH theme.
Me too! I think that must be one of the most common ones. Along with my other confession, that I thought the teams in University Challenge really did sit double-decker style. Don't worry folks, I'd worked it out before I saw the Young Ones.

Same as you, I though they were saying 'Moorish' also. As we are taught in History class, the Islamic forces of North Africa swept into Southern Europe to seize our Pringles.
Heathen swine!
There's got to be a Brady/Hindley pun in this discussion somewhere. 5 gold stars to the best one. GO!

I thought the Brady Bunch Movie was going to be a harrowing fly on the wall documentary featuring acts of grotesque depravity paraded around in the name of entertainment - it was.

The double parter about the troll was weak. The last two just screened were very good indeed.

Really? Which one? Was it [name deleted on advice of BCG lawyers] or [name deleted on advice of NHS Direct]?
Quote: DaButt @ November 16 2009, 5:33 PM GMTI don't think that's the case. We're used to seasons of 26 episodes, so the typical 6-episode UK series would barely get off the ground before it was forgotten.
Comedies from the UK also struggle because there is so much "local" humour that Americans wouldn't understand. Take last night's Top Gear, for example: there were jokes about Vernon Kay and he's an unknown over here. Same thing with football players, rhyming slang, UK politicians, etc. We have a powerful television industry worth billions of dollars, so the networks would rather remake shows that are proven winners. Sometimes it fails (Life on Mars) and sometimes the remake turns out better than the original (The Office.)
There's no way the U.S. Office is better than the original. They try too hard in the U.S. one.
I didn't work out that Kenny Everett played Marcel Wave on his own show!
Incidentally if they ever make a biopic about Kenny Everett, Chris Addison would be a strong contender to play him, no?
Oo. Yes! Good observation!
