Are violent video games damaging to society? Page 6

Not as much freedom, but an amazing story, great oldie music, a great plot twist and fantastic weapons, including biological enhancements. One of the best first person shooters I've ever played.

I really don't understand how anybody could make a linear game nowadays, or why anyone would want to buy one.

A 30-hour game, or a 200-hour game? I know where I'd spend my money.

Kevin, I know what you mean, but Bioshock doesn't feel linear, like say COD, and as Andrea says, it has great weapons and mood. Also you can pick it up for less than a tenner and it's a steal for that.

good boy...

It was recently featured on a show we have over here in a segment called "Games for Cheap Bastards" I believe. If I'm wrong then it should be.

Yay! Kevin buys good games! :D

I remember as a young child that, after playing Horrace Goes Skiing for too many hours, I tried to cross a motorway in order to hire some skis. After putting myself in mortal danger crossing the M5, imagine my disappointment when I got to the other side to discover there was no ski hire shop. Even worse, when I crossed back over the motorway I also realised there was no snow in Bristol for me to ski down as it was.

And after playing Horrace And The Spiders, I was convicted of an arson attempt on Bristol Zoo.

They should ban video games and bring back National Service.

Do you play any video games at all Tim?

Only that crazy one we call life! (I bet he'll say)

I do think that games have gone a bit too violent, but then I play Mario most of the time, so I'm a Wuss.

Not really, no. Used to be mad for them as a kid though.

Hey, Mario's pretty tough for a plumber. And Koopa's pretty mean... Whistling nnocently

I mostly play Grand Theft Auto and I don't think it's affected me...unless you include occasionally noticing somewhere that would make a good sniper position.

With a 22 month old daughter I have to be a bit careful playing it. fortunately the game largely consists of driving from one place to another and she just goes, "ooh! Car!" and she's young enough to easily distract with a teddy bear while I blow a drug dealer's head off with a shotgun or beat a prostitute to death.

I've barely played computer games since I stopped working at EA.

Do EA use Python then? Surely not, unless it's for fiddly little bits here and there.
