Has anyone here ever sent scripts to the BBC Writersroom and if so what was the feedback and response time like?

Lots of info here mate:
I got my spoof radio script past the infamous first ten pages read through. didn't get anywhere though and the comments seemed to miss the point of the sript enitrely. but still, it was nice to get some feedback and get the whole thing read too.

Sorry your script didn't get a better response Deian; did you send it anywhere else and get a different response? Where else do you send a radio script if the BBC won't take it anyway - are there independent radio producers who accept unsolicited scripts?
No humber, I didn't. like you mention where else can you send it?
at least it got passed the first ten pages read through, so it must have showed some promise. just not enough eh? 
the thing that got me about the comments were when it said my script was, 'a bit silly and hammy'.
my script was a spoof and kinda hinged on the whole silly hammy premise really. 
ah well.
am working on a sitcom script at the mo but am not so keen on sending it to the beeb. at least, not yet.
are you thinking of sending anything out humber?

I've got a TV script I'm hoping to send next week but it's not funny ... by which I mean it's a drama not a comedy! I was just a bit concerned if I send it now it might be the last week before Christmas when it gets read and the reader's thoughts might be on other things!!
What I did do though is pay to get my script read by a reader and it was the best £35 ever spent.
Good luck with your latest script - I don't know if you've ever posted on Critique but there seems to be some sound people on there with some good advice.
Turned down my subsequently optioned script.

TBH, I think it all depends which student you get reading it.
It's only the cost of a stamp - so it has to be worth a punt.
Don't hold your breath, though.
Thanks Lazzard, that's good to know. It is a worry though who the person is reading it.
BTW I know the BBC encourage you to send all stuff through the Writersroom but would prefer to also send to targeted individuals - would they really be arsed enough to put a black mark against your name if you did that?!?
