The other problem with getting rid of porn is where do you draw the line? Many

Currently, I think the legal line is drawn at inserting anything that doesn't taper.

Oh, and pissing.

If you have a sense of shame after viewing something, that's porn! If you have a sense of regret, that's sex. If you feel nothing, that's rape!

This was a debate brought up in my sexuality module

What is that? Like a space ship or summat?

There is a large difference between porn and art

In art, the Vaseline goes on the lens.

I'm all for banning Corrie - in fact, all soap operas. If it means just one less woman being raped, then it would be worth it.

I concur with this ban entirely. In fact, you don't even need the second sentence.

Think of porn as kitchen knives, the huge majority use them responsibly and the way in which they're intended but unfortunately some people take things too far and use them outside the kitchen (to stab people). Like with most things there is the huge majority who use things in a law abiding way and I think it would be wrong to take something away from those who can keep control of themselves and behave rationally because of a tiny minority who don't. Mind you, I do see where Dolly is coming from, I won't ever have children (personal choice) but there is no way I would want my son(s)/daughter(s) to ever be involved in the porn industry (or anyone I gave a shit about). There is some depraved stuff out there and just because there is a desire for it does that necessarily mean it should be catered for? I suppose you could argue that is better to have things simulated/performed on screen to displace the desire such people have as a means of preventing them from enacting it themselves. I don't know but I can see it from both sides. Anyway, I'm off to watch some sapphic erotica. :)

When you relate porn to rape, mental health issues and accusations of infidelity you automatically tag it with a misinformed badge. Giving it a bad name, making people feel ashamed and repressing it.

To pretend that porn has no connection to any of these things is an act of denial. Like the belief that women who do it are actually enjoying it! it sounds like the 'it's not real life' (well it's not a dream or a hallucination - who do you think these people are who appear in these images?) is a justification to make users feel better. And being able to disassociate like that may not be entirely healthy. And of course porn is becoming increasingly more graphic - why? because it starts to lose its effect and viewers need 'stronger' images.

Plus there's nothing wrong with shame - it shows a you have a conscience!

Does it make you feel comfortable to think of Mr Dagger wanking over you, probably in some absolutely bizarre and sickening situations, does that make it better?

Maybe not everyone is turned on by 'bizarre and sickening situations' - which I dread to think what they are....

Why don't people make their own porn?

Quote: Leevil @ November 9 2009, 3:58 PM GMT

Dids it hurt?

I did haff to do lots of finking.

And there I shall leave this discussion as, I'm sure many of you are thinking, I'm just a stupid girl who knows nothing. Of course this view of me is no way influenced by all the porn you've seen. ;)

Why don't people make their own porn?

They do. The internet's full of the stuff.

Quote: Kevin Murphy @ November 9 2009, 4:15 PM GMT
