Well, unless you call a plumber 'round, to use his big tool to fix your pipes. I think porn is a form of entertainment.

If you watch a horror movie, or a slasher, it doesn't necessarily reflect your desire for killing people in horrific ways.

So men watch porn for entertainment? Blimey, here's me thinking they watch it to get turned on and have a wank. Rolling eyes

Eeew. I'm not having sex with a druggie, you might give me junkie Aids.

*see, I can be mean and personal too*

:P

Sorry, I just picked a random name.

Can I have my socks back, please?

Yes, and it's quite entertaining.

I think what you watch in porn, and the sort of people you find attractive and want a relationship with pretty much have nothing in common.

Not that I watch porn... Whistling nnocently

What do you think I don't understand about porn? I think that's just an excuse for people who use it that it's not real life. it does affect people; it's well known that young men are very influenced by porn that they say and that the images affect how they view women and what they should be like.

You're on very dangerous ground here Dolly - aside from the usual censorship arguments, women watch porn as well.

Porn is a sexual substitute, so if you ban porn then you have to ban vibrators as well - or washing machines for poor people.

As far as blokes go (and I imagine gay blokes as well) porn is just something to wank over or at or on... There is nothing more intellectual going on beyond that when watching porn. One's "flavour" of porn may be influenced by one's personal erotic tastes, but frankly most blokes could successfully masturbate over a silhouette of a vaguely vagina-shaped owl. Porn has absolutely nothing to do with a man's personal relationships or his general appreciation of women.

So gay porn isn't for gay men, etc?

Not necessarily.

Pardon?

Here ya go matey...oops, I must have dropped it in some mayonaisse, I'd give it a wash when you get home. Whistling nnocently

There's now such a fine line between mainstream and porn, whose not to say a lot of women don't watch porn, accidentally?

Girls of the Playboy mansion, is a show featuring porn stars. What other shows feature porn stars? Oh, yes porn shows!

Google for "girls wearing glasses".

:D

So what about young men expecting their real life sexual partners to look and behave like the women they see in pornography? To say it's completely removed from your real sex life seems like denial to me. That's like the old line afrom someone who's had an affair that it was 'just sex' and didn;t mean anything.

If what you find attractive to wank over is so different from what you find attractive in real life just seems downright weird.

Or men.

Women probably do watch it. Partly because they think they should (like pretending to be a lesbian).

Why (most) people use it. How they 'view' it. Like Lee said:

Ooh, cheers. It's alright, I'll just put it on my sandwich. I've not seen this brand before, it's rather stringy isn't it? Quite salty too...

Do they? Where is the evidence for this? Beyond some anecdotal hunch? I'd genuinely like to see the research. :)
