Quote: Matthew Stott @ November 8 2009, 12:17 AM GMTWhich other shows that you've never watched are you going to continue not to watch? I want to make a list.
I don't think you have got enough lead in your pencil Matt.
It's a long list.
Quote: Robert D @ November 7 2009, 11:55 PM GMTI watched the short charity one they did. It wasn't funny so I assumed the series was worse.
Strange logic, Robert. Specials for the likes of Children In Need and Comic Relief are rarely particularly amusing, and even less frequently are they reflective of the series from which they come.
Only a few seconds into Episode 1, Series 1, I announced "This is going to be superb" and a few minutes later I announced "I was right".
At the end of Series 2, I hadn't changed my mind.
'Gavin and Stacey' is one of the finest British TV comedies of the modern age. As a TV programme, every aspect of it radiates quality and the entire show is a credit to everyone involved in its production.
Roll on Series 3!
Thursday Nov 26th at 9pm on BBC One - apologies if that has already been mentioned.
I watched the first series and really liked it.
Sadly by the second series that fat loser James Corden had let fame go to his head and to me it comes across in the show. I watched it, but soon got bored of him attention seeking his fat arse away.
So I won't be watching series 3 unless he gets brutally killed off in the first episode
In some ways (though it might sound crazy), Gavin & Stacey is the single worst thing that has happened to James Corden. Before it, he was known as a cracking young actor. He was excellent in The History Boys and in Mike Leigh's film All Or Nothing. The last thing he needed was this kind of fame at this stage in his career.

To put it as nicely as possible - he went from being a bit of a c**t to a complete one
I think Corden's great in Gavin And Stacey. He doesn't annoy me at all like he seems to do some.
Truly right, this is what a comedy should be about, then again, different people, different taste.
It's my personal favourite comedy of all time, together with Early Doors. I think because you can put yourself in their shoes sometimes and it sometimes looks really recognisable.
Can't wait for series 3
It's pointless even pointing out that this show started to be consciously self-reverential, cloying and sentimental (whilst forgetting to put laughs in) from the beginning of series 2 onwards. It's nice that people enjoy it, it is well-written and has a great cast, but it has no "roots" and it will simply be viewed as a curiosity piece in ten years time. Still, at the moment it has been decided that it's some sort of classic comedy, so (in terms of the tabloids and the rest of the media) it's pissing in the wind to claim otherwise.
Oh, Tim!
(Sounds like an eighties sitcom)

'You Must Be The Husband'? - Yep, classic.

You have a damn good point, my man. Same thing happened with The Royle Family after series 2, methinks.

Ditto. I just see a guy enjoying himself and having fun, not this massive c**t that everyone else is so bothered by.
I'm watching this now and feel it's a real mix of good and crap.
The bits about the Takeaway order just went on and the smoking just wasn't funny. Who in their right mind who doesn't smoke would want to try it for a laugh?
A lot of it is just real people doing chavvy things.
Loved Julia Davis though and Alison Steadman.
