Wossy in Trouble Again! Page 2

Perhaps you'd care to explain the joke? I mean that's the best way isn't it?

A perfectly reasonable suggestion, David - but with so many people currently in mischievous mood, I really don't have time for a lengthy and ultimately fruitless discussion on the matter.

I don't understand 'Black Books': it's shite.

I think we're talking about two different things here. You're talking about not 'liking' something in the sense that it's not your preferred brand of comedy. 'Understanding' is something different. It's not that Badge and I don't 'understand' your sketch, it's that we're saying your sketch is logically flawed. How about you try explaining why our criticisms are invalid and I'm sure you'll see what we mean.

I assure you I'm not being mischievous.

David,

It might be that Badge and your good self are among the most pleasant, reasonable and peace-loving people God ever created. However, not everybody in the world is similarly blessed. There are those who find great joy in disagreeing with even the most reasonable of propositions put forward by people they're not immensely keen on.

And for that reason, I shall not be explaining the joke any time soon.

Like, for instance, a person who posts their work up for crit only to cry "fix" every time someone challenges them. Somehow I don't think you're here to develop as a writer, Roodeye.

Why has the original joke/sketch been deleted? Isn't this just a waste of everyone's time? Hardly any point in posting on Critique if you have a tantrum and take your toys away as soon as you get a criticism you don't agree with. Because as a writer you have to deal with rejection and "unfair" criticism of your work as part of the job.

Perhaps best not to post any further material if you can't be mature about the process? :)

Don't worry, Morrace was kind enough to reprint it on page 1.

And somehow, I don't think you're totally lacking mischief, David. Cool

I think some were being a bit unfair on Roodeye, truth be told. It was a dumb joke, but some of the responses seemed to me like they were just trying to hand the guy more rope.

Not that you're right, but what difference would it make so long as my criticism were valid? And being as you can't defend against it, I really think the problem here is your own.

Ah, yes.

Well, it doesn't really work, does it? The reference to Cocoon is too dated and obscure thesedays and the logic of the joke doesn't stand up to scrutiny. It's not funny enough an outcome to warrant the tortuous route to get there. Sorry. :)

And calm.

I don't go with that myself. If Ross were indeed a stutterer and the punch were tweaked slightly, I actually think Roodeye would have a half decent joke on his hands.

Not that you're right, but . . .

I think your determination to pursue the matter proves I'm right. :D

Or maybe I just tire of people who post on here pretending they want honest feedback when really all they're after is a tummy rub?

I rest my case.
