Does it have a very bitter flavor? Is it like Denmark's Sorte Svin ('black pigs', which is vodka with pepper/liquorice candies dissolved in it)? Actually, "sorte svin" has been deemed politically incorrect and some Danes now call the drink "small greys".

Yes, it is very bitter, but with some sweetness. I don't know Danish one, but black balsam is herbal liquor with some 24 herbal ingredients mixed in our vodka. It is very strong (45%/90 proof) and taste is somewhat specific.

My wife calls it "Guinness beer of strong drinks", as in her mind black balsam is as different from all other drinks as Guinness beer from lagers.

Bah and indeed Gah! No mention of Stripes, Little Shop of Horrors or Caddyshack! I disagree with your Bill Murray choices Tim. His performance in Lost in Translation, the bore fest where nothing happens, better then Caddyshack?

Caddyshack!!!!!!

Caddyshack!!!!!!

Don't like Caddyshack. Sorry. I realise this is blasphemy amongst certain men of a "certain age". ;)

Lost In Translation is generally a pretentious bore-fest, as you so rightly state. Bill Murray is the only reason to watch it (plus some good cinematography and the soundtrack), he carries the film brilliantly. Stripes - meh! He's fine in Little Shop Of Horrors, but not a vintage performance.

:O

Burn the heretic! Both Stripes and Caddyshack are made of win and covered in awesome sauce and his vintage performance as the pervy dentist in Little Shop of Horrors was the film's only high light.

I think we'll have to agree that your opinions are worthless to disagree.

Pish and fibble, sir! Unimpressed

I was going to do a 'Top Ten John Belushi' films... but then I thought what's the point? The man was a minor derivative comic, who never appeared in a single decent film anyway.

Lost in Translation is not a pretentious bore-fest, and Bill Murray is very good in it.

As for Little Shop of Horrors, I thought Steve Martin was the dentist, or have I mis-remembered? Anyway, whoever it was was a pale imitation of Jack Nicholson in the original.

EDIT: Hang on - another mis-remembering, Nicholson was the patient, not the dentist. Maybe that's why I'm getting confused. :S

(realises Tim is just doing some fishing to get some attention, not that I would stoop to those levels. Errr )
