The BBC have commissioned a new sitcom by Simon Amstell.
Title's bad enough, but Simon Amstell is a bit of a twat really.

That is a very harsh assesment David. Simon Amstell is only considered a tit as he is brave out spoken and at times profound.
I am really looking forward to his sitcom as I believe he seems the type who'd be a really good sitcom writer. I will be really interested to see how he acts in it.
He's a bit of a asshole at times but overall I find him pretty funny.
Suppose we will see when it's screened, will be a love it or hate it type show I think
The premise reminds me of Beautiful People.
I reckon it will it will be far more naturalistic than Beautiful People and there almost definitely won't be spontaneous singing.

Had anyone seen/heard about the pilot upon which the series was commissioned?
Could be good, I like Amstell, I'll certainly give this a watch.
Looking forward to it.
Well seems I'm the only only Amstell 'hater' here lmao
I can imagine him to be a good writer, so I might like it, keeping an open mind.
If it's anything like Beautiful People then I know I would, that show was brilliant
Is it the same Nicola Walker in this that was in Chalk?

What planet are you on?

It was recorded in March 2008, and presented to commissioners earlier this year. According to the information we had on this very site.
I too think he may have the ability to write a good sitcom BUT what annoys me is the old boy's club in operation yet again!!! Is it becoming compulsory to get yourself on the telly before the BBC gives you a writing commision? It's happening too flippin much! It's like a slap in the face for hard working amateurs everytime they do this. >_<
Quote: Roodeye @ October 24 2009, 4:25 PM BSTI have no objection to funny people being given their own sitcoms. What makes me want to puke is people like Jessica Stevenson getting their own sitcoms.
What do you mean and which show are you referring to?
I find her to be a naturally very funny person.
According to Bex was pretty crap obviously, but she has been very funny in Spaced and every other comedy and comedy drama I've seen her in.
Quote: Roodeye @ October 24 2009, 4:30 PM BSTA main character in a sitcom?
You've not seen the extremely popular and successful Spaced then?
Quote: Roodeye @ October 24 2009, 4:30 PM BSTIn fairness to the woman in question, I'm not going to slag her off in front of the whole Internet. She's probably a nice person and she's certainly never done me any harm.
But funny?
Do me a favour.
A main character in a sitcom?
Do me another favour.
I'll stop now.
Yeah, but which show are you talking about? The one she co-wrote and co-starred in with Simon Pegg or her supporting role in the acclaimed Royle Family perhaps?
