Who are dirtier; men or women? Page 5

I used to work with someone who use to rub a crystal in their armpits instead of using deodorant, because they were worried about their health (despite smoking). I used to burn a lot of fragranced oils in that office.

Laughing out loud

Sometimes New-Age beliefs make me think of Hitler's famous line that "The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it".

Although I've always fancied trying those candles you burn in your ears.

Huh? Really bad ear wax?

I have heard, although wasn't sure if it was a myth, that if you don't wash your hair for a few months, it will eventually clean itself or something.
But to get to that stage you'd have to live with DISGUSTING skanky smelly greasy hair for 6 months beforehand. Not sure it's worth it.

Yes I've heard this is true.
I remember seeing a science programme about it years ago.

The hair may be greasy for a while at first (nowhere near six months though)

This is Apparently because the detergent in Shampoo strips your hair of it's natural oils which are designed to keep it clean & healthy.
So the body produces excess oils while you use Shampoo to compensate, this should get back to normal after a few weeks or a month or so.

Another interesting thing in the programme was that everyones hair will only grow to a certain length and no more. Everyones predetermined length will be different, but Once your hair gets to this point it will not get any longer.

True. I didn't have my hair cut for 33 years. It was only waist length.

Even dogs need their hair washed after a while or they stink.

I worked in a Wal-mart where Mennonites and Amish shopped and they don't use deodorant. I can only hope that when they bathe they have either a belt sander or wire brush to get that smell to go away.

I thought they looked good and might help the result of my years of decongestant abuse.

Still they look a bit dangerous.

That's really just limited by the strength of your hair and its follicles really. At a certain length of hair, which will vary from person to person, the root will no longer be able to sustain the weight of the length of hair attached to it. The hair at this point will fall out. This will average out over the thousands of hairs produced to a maximum length that an individual's hair can apparently grow to without cutting. Geek

Ooh, that's quite interesting.

Tim's work is done for the week. ;)

Although the ears and nose are linked, even severe ear wax will have basically no effect on nasal congestion/decongestion. The Eustachian tube, which equalises air pressure between the ear and nose is too deep in the ear to be affected by wax. "Congestion" felt in the ears is most commonly due to problems at the nasal end of the Eustachian tube, most notably apparent when one has a cold. In the same way as you can have "referred pain", you can also experience "referred congestion". Geek
