The Thick Of It - Series 3 Page 30

The story arc of Malcolm's return was rapid but as the show parallels real events it certainly is not implausible.
Campbell is back in a 'consultative' capacity after floundering around as a part time documentary maker and as for Charlie Whelan, he is has been a powerful shadowy figure around the PM for sometime via a secondment from his job at Unite the Union.

Slightly disappointing last episode. No real scheming took place on the part of Tucker to get back in. He was just asked. That was a bit lame.

In his own words he was invited back to "clean up the splatter from my own assassination". Did you not notice his scheming to get Julius' report worded how he wanted it?

Yeah, but there was no real drama in the Tucker absence or return. No real space. Missed a bit of a trick, I think. It was all bit throw-away.

It was interesting how subtly this was conveyed, just by Tucker mentioning an until-then non-existent rumour. It makes me wonder about the time Julia thought she was being set up by Tucker on camera with those embarrassing words in the background, and it wasn't made clear whether Tucker was guilty or not.

I missed this and am chomping at the bit to see it on BBC Four on Thursday. Coupled with the last Curb Your Enthusiasm of the series, it'll be a good night.

...If you play your cards right.

Julia? Do you mean Nicola?

Sorry, I'm getting her mixed up with Julia Sawalha. I'll try harder to get my facts straight in the future, Jim.

:D Angry *shakes fist*

Just saw the last one last night. Great stuff. Although the show seemed to have mellowed towards Tucker in the end, allowing him to go out on a high. Earlier on in the series it looked like they were setting him up to destroy him.

I think it kind of showed Tucker to in fact be the most sincere character - despite all his flaws.

I liked him in his fleecy top.

It was nice, wasn't it? :)
