Sitcom (Com)Mission Page 68

Hello chums

Hope all is well.

The moment is nearly upon us.

This Monday coming, that's next Monday, that's Monday April 12 2010, we launch The Sitcom Mission.

500 have become 16.

And you can see the first 4 of those this Monday, next Monday etc.

The Moo Crew by Joel Slack-Smith, directed by Lisa Cagnacci
Thunderer by Bryn Mills, directed by David Fynn
Sitting Ducks by John Stylianou directed by Jemma Gross
Stand And Deliver by Daniel Flinter and Elizabeth Rhodes, directed by Fergus March

We're at the New Diorama Theatre, round the back of the Santander building, opposite Warren Street tube station.

5pm is only a fiver. 8pm is £10.

We're compered this week by the lovely and brilliant Sara Pascoe, who was in Free Agents nonetheless.

And if you come to the 8pm show, you also get to see The Scat Pack, a fantastic bunch of improvisers.

All that for a tenner? Flippin eck, there must be an election on.

And there is.

Be the first, we'll see you there. And come and grab us in the bar afterwards and tell us why your sitcom was better.

Cheers, Declan and Simon

Hi all

Just to let you know, our judges this week are:

Michael Deacon, TV critic of the Daily Telegraph
Robert Epstein, TV critic of the Independent
Catherine Oldfield, of production company Monkey Kingdom
A representative of Time Out

Confirmed judges for the Grand Final in June so far are:

Jane Berthoud, Head of Comedy Production, BBC Radio
Shane Allen, Head of Comedy, Channel 4
Lucy Lumsden, Head of Comedy, Sky TV

We'll see you there on Monday, 5pm and 8pm.

Cheers, Declan and Simon

That's a brilliant line up of judges. Sadly I can't make tomorrow's first show (which past experience tells me will already be a sellout, am I right?), but I'll be getting along to a heat asap. Best of luck to everyone involved.

Any chance of seeing video clips?

Kev F

The judges for the first heat are pretty impressive but the judges for the final are brill-tastic and astonish-mazing.

Three 'heads' of comedy! Go on, get a fourth head of comedy in there.

And good luck to everyone involved in the first heat/round/stage/whatever!

Yeah, good luck everyone!

They did last year.

Good luck to all.

Good luck to the finalists, especially "The Box" and "Should Know Better", which I believe are the titles of the scripts I saw getting their first read-through back at the workshop in December. Both were excellent.

Thanks for the support Kevin.
Good luck to all.

Good luck all! Above all, enjoy the experience/notoriety.

Yea break a leg everyone.
Please film them Declan, then I can buy the DVD.
I can't get up to the city to see them all and I'm an all or nothing person :D

Good luck to everyone who's making a go of this comp. May you bathe in the blood of your enemies.

I don't think it'd be a huge seller, bb. The best you can hope for is somebody films it and posts it somewhere.

Yea but it wouldn't cost much if they've already a digital camera.
I filmed on video my own two plays 12 years ago and a friend has recently transfered them to DVD on cheap discs from Asda...brill :D
I'd love to come along and watch but I can't do each week, I'm up in Stockport and I can't stay down there till June as I have a hubby to think of.....well, I think of him occasionally :D

Cheap Discs From Asda -- there's a Mike Leigh film if ever I heard one...

Dan
