Quick question - With the 'blanket veto' in place for guests for the readthrough, are we allowed to listen in on other people's readthroughs or are we only permitted to attend our slot and nobody elses?
Sitcom (Com)Mission Page 64
I read it as director, writer and cast only, but I may be wrong.
I'm also a bit confused now re writers sitting in on each others - after the conflicting emails we had - I guess all will become clear tomorrow.
Yes Ponderer thanks to Mr Carpark I went along to the rehearsals of both of our scripts tonight and can confirm that our director Suzann is fab. We only had about an hour each but with a good director that's enough to bring out what you'd hope for from a reading like this. The actors I've met through these workshops etc have always been of a high standard too and keen to do their best with the script for your sake and theirs! So do enjoy it.
Well done Mr C - yours went great (damn you and your ready wit)
See some of you tomorrow then...
xx
You london-based folk, meeting up with directors and actors, us folk out in the sticks can only dream of such things!
Nice to meet you, Jane - I was the woman coming in as you were leaving.
I concur Suzann is fab - and the actors are too. This evening was so much fun, regardless of what happens next. What a great thing this Sitcom (Com)Mission is.
Good luck for tomorrow everyone!
All those who took part in the sitcom reading marathon at the Rag Factory over the weekend will, I'm sure, agree that the standard this year was very high. We were absolutely delighted with the work that was presented, and it made our job of narrowing it down to 16 so incredibly difficult.
We're also very confident that the standard of writing, acting and direction available to us will prove that in April and May we will be putting on the best sitcom showcase in this country ever.
We'd like to thank all our writers, directors and actors for their work, spirit and enthusiasm. We'd also like to thank those writers who made the long trek to London to see their work read out, who then had to rush back home again. Congratulations for investing your time, energy and finances into your craft.
Without any further ado, the 16 to be showcased at the New Diorama Theatre in 2010 are:

SARANTASIA by Lucy Dwyer

SITTING DUCKS by John Stylianou
SONS OF DIAMOND by Chris Wallace & Phil Hodgson
STAND AND DELIVER by Daniel Joseph Flinter & Elizabeth Rhodes
THE BOX by Russell Obeney
THE END OF FUN by Adam Greenwood
THE HONEYS by Jules Bower
THE MOO CREW by Joel Slack-Smith
THE SELECTED FEW by Harinder Dhillon
THUNDERER by Bryn Mills
We'll be in touch with the successful writers later this week to discuss progression.
We'd like to offer a free place on our What's Wrong With My Script? workshop to the other 16 writers whose work was read at the Rag Factory. We'll be doing some more throughout the year.
Well done Ennie, bluerthanblue, Joel and any other BCG people I may have missed. And commiserations to those who have missed out on the top 16.
(Kevin M, Die Hard - see the standard of our workshop! Can we wallow in reflected glory?)
Thanks Andy.
It was a long and agonizing wait.
Commiserations to the 16 that just missed out and congratulations to all the finalists.
Commisserations to those who didn't make it, and congrats to those who did. Hopefully I'll meet a couple of you at a live show.
Thanks Badge. I watched about five scripts performed and they were all really funny so I felt very lucky to get through. Congrats to all.
Well done to everyone who got through. Not for me this year, but at least it means I can actually schedule my stag do now!
Dan
Well, glad to see the one I was in got through! Twas a lovely script. Though the writer hasn't seen fit to tell us yet, even though we all wanted him to!
Forgot to add my congratulations to the 16 finalists. Well done, let's hope it's the start of something massive for you.
Oh well, back to my life of futile nihilistic nothingness.
I think the fact you actually called your sitcom that, says a lot...

Spookily my sitcom was called 'Everyone's A Winner' - ah, cruel irony, you keep f**king with my shit.
