This sounds fantastic fun. I'd totally be up for something like that.

But it's making a bit of a mockery of what you're doing. Have a Star Trek party by all means, but getting married like that is a bit stupid IMO.

It's what they genuinely believed...bigot!

I was going to say Startrek never killed anyone. But then I remembered that frweaky deaky cult where they castrated them selves and commited suicide. Their faith was based on Startrek.

So they 'believe' in Star trek?! What is the philosophy of it?

When are 2ChristianTypists going to weigh in on this? Or did they already, I'm too sexy to read 13 pages of this guff.

If you were that sexy, you would have had someone read it for you.

More I suppose an identification with an idealised vision of human civilisation.

Where racism no longer exists. Apart from those bastrds in red, set phasers to kill and get the bastards!

Ah. Still I think it's more about a fantasy world, dressing up and role play than a real belief system. I asked Mr Dagger to dress as a highwayman when we got married, but he wouldn't :( Still he wouldn't wear a suit either.

There's a guy down my way who dress's up as a highway man all the time. he has knee high boots and arse lenght pony tail. I will miss him when someone murders him for his tricorn hat.

Is KIRK the new tetragrammaton?

My chum is strictly Next Gen all the way.

Laughing out loud

He did get married in leather trousers and motorcycle boots, but wouldn't wear the cloak and tricorn hat. :)

He did get married in leather trousers and motorcycle boots.../

So he's gay?

And you wanted him to dress as a 'bandit'?

Sorry, I may have missed something here - people who aren't particularly religious and get married in a church in front of a God they don't believe in is totally legit? Doesn't that make a mockery of what they're doing?

And what about when a couple of your gay friends get wed? Isn't that too a mockery? What if your gay or straight friends dress up in 'silly' costumes to get married? What if the bride doesn't wear a white dress? Is that a mockery?

As long as the marriage is recognised under the law as a union, does it matter how people get wed?

The prosecution rests at this time your Honour.
