From the BBC Press Office:
Kirsty Young's castaway this week is comedian and actor Steve Coogan.
Steve trained as an actor at Manchester Polytechnic School Of Theatre and kick-started his career providing voices for the satirical puppet show Spitting Image. His most famous character, Alan Partridge, was first introduced to the nation on BBC Radio 4's On The Hour. Alan's sporting commentaries earned a cult following and Steve was soon to be seen in the television series The Day Today.
Alan Partridge then secured his own chat show on BBC Radio, Knowing Me, Knowing You, which transferred to television to widespread acclaim, followed by I'm Alan Partridge.
Steve has also starred in numerous films, including 24 Hour Party People, and has worked as a producer and writer. He speaks to Kirsty about his life and his favourite music, and describes how he would cope on Radio 4's mythical island.
