I wouldn't recommend it on the basis of being a good film per se, but I really enjoyed 'The chronicles of Riddick.' Planet-hopping mindless fun.
I've just seen... Page 288
It is truly mindless
But it looks gorgeous
That ginormous alien invasion is worth the ticket alone
Nb super 8 disapointing but still fun
I have to say I thought Escape from New York was dreadful. But I think Princess Bride is dreadful. So, each to their own I suppose.

In the words of Matt Stott, I thought it was great.
Interesting fact - when they were making Escape From New York, they couldn't afford the computer graphics used in the opening glider sequence, so they got a picture of New York, covered it in fluorescent tape, switched on the black light and filmed it as a practical effect.
Kind of the opposite what they do today.
Quote: Gavin @ June 26 2012, 6:48 PM BSTI have to say I thought Escape from New York was dreadful. But I think Princess Bride is dreadful because I have no soul, no heart, no gentle wit. Just an empty black hole at my centre. Like in Disney's Black Hole and that was an awful scifi film with those testicle robots. So, each to their own I suppose.
Sometimes when I stand near you I can hear the gentle whistle of hope being sucked in there.
Feel for you man.
Disney's The Black Hole was beyond awesome sauce and was scary as shit. It gave me more nightmares then Event Horizon ever could.
It was the floating gothic castle in space, controlled by the mad scientist and his evil construct, the crew were all murdered and re-animated as his slaves and Old Bob was raped continually by the other robotoids.
In the end, they all went to hell. And this was a kids movie!
Was Old Bob raped? It seems kinda probable, infact likely. I just can't believe the company that made Bambi and Cinderella. Would film an elderly, disabled robot shaped like a testicle. Being raped continuosly by Nazi, Zombie Robots.
Thats just awful.
But then the Blackhole is essentially a giant anus, that reverse rapes the whole crew when it sucks them in at the end.
What a dark perverted film.
Did it star Topol?

Maximillian Schell, but he did have more then a passing resemblence to Topol, so I can see where the confusion may come from.
Thats the drugs talking, but its nice of you to excuse it.
The Company Men. Not bad, although that Clooney film where he flew around sacking people did it better. Although I always enjoy sweeing Kevin Costner. I like how he's gone from being a dashing leading man to a testicle-faced character actor.

Costner was pretty good in the recent Hatfields & McCoys miniseries.

Yeah, he likes his Westerns. I'm quite a fan of him.

There are guns and horses and saloons, but it's no western. It's set in the Appalachian Mountains, but was filmed in Romania.

I'll be the judge of what's a Western and what isn't. Star Wars is considered a Western and that was filmed in Tunisa and set on Tattoonie.
