This too. Vaguely similar to Inception's score. Hanz Zimmer (Thin Red Line, loads more, and the xylophone score from True Romance) Epic!!
Is not just vaguely similar you could put the inception and batman sound tracks together and not tell you were on a different film Hans Zimmer is better then Danny Elfman though. Whose kinda got 1 sound. But Elfman's Batman theme is still the best.
In terms of film scores it's hard to beat Ennio Morricone.
Quote: Leevil @ August 21 2011, 12:26 AM BSTWell I'll see if I get around to watching it tomorrow night.
I'm thinking my next trilogy will be Lord of the Rings. I've seen the first one before, but kept zoning out. I was forced to watch it come to think out it, so didn't enjoy being trapped in a room with friends and family for 3 hours.
Read the books instead Leevil. It's quicker.
Quote: Leevil @ August 21 2011, 12:18 AM BSTDon't say that! It's took me this long to build up the energy to watch it tonight.
The Dark Knight is superb, much better than Begins for me.

Nah, Begins is a far leaner and more effient film. Dark Knight's good but it's overlong and bloated (I'm looking at you pointless Hong Kong subplot). And the big car chase is a bit rubbishly edited at times.
Quote: chipolata @ August 21 2011, 2:11 PM BSTNah,
Nah.
For one thing, it has a much better baddie; as good as Begins is, it's bad guys aren't great; The Scarecrow is pretty weak, really. And you don't have to see the origin bit, straight to the meat. And you don't have to watch Katie Holmes. Yes it could be shorter.
Shutter Island.
Not perfect but brilliant.
Not bad film almost made me forget wanting to punch DiCaprio in his stupid wide face.

I always think of Ra's al Ghul as the main Begins villain - and very good he is too despite the silly name. Isn't he rumoured to be popping up in Rises?

DiCaprio's a class act.
The Departed, The Aviator, Gangs Of New York, Blood Diamond, Body Of Lies, some really good stuff. Departed especially.

I don't know if it's because they don't tend to kill people in these films. But as soon as the train crashed I wondered when we were going to see him again. I'm surprised he wasn't seen stirring at the end of the credits. Or maybe he'd laid an egg somewhere and it begins to hatch?
I did get a small thrill with the actual ending though and the use of the calling card. Even though I knew he is in the second one, I wasn't expecting them to leave it with that, which was kinda cool.

Yeah, he is the main villain in Begins, it's just Scarrcrow is such a good idea, so much could have been done, but in the end not much really was.
And yeah, there's talk that he or his people have something to do with Rises.

Didn't like the ending. I didn't know what the film was about when I saw it, but from the moment he was on the boat at the start, I guessed what was coming. I then hoped this was on purpose, to throw you off what was really going to happen.
*SPOILERS*
As they say on imdb
As I was watching the end unfold, I was thinking they'd talked him into thinking he was crazy, but because the partner/therapist character was so sincere, it was only afterwards thinking about it I reckoned Ben Kingsley's version of events was true. The sad look on the partner/therapists's face during the last line of the film made me think that.
Definitely good to see Scorcese's take on an haunted house type film though.
Nazi flashback scenes were brutal.

I like Blood Diamond his South African accent is pretty good.
Shutter Island as a thriller is kinda obvious. But as a study of the major changes in psychiatry in the post war years its excelent.
