I do like Butler, he's rather good. Enjoyed Gamer. Good fun I thought.

Law Abiding Citizen was very enjoyable too.

I'm not stalking Ben (at the moment)

But I went to see Attack the Block tonight
Great stuff, I really enjoyed it & the performances were excellent.

I just got back from seeing this and can do nothing but agree with Steve.

Yes, I like him too. He's the Hairy Scottish Jason Statham.

Che - Part One. Limp and lifeless biopic of Che Guevera's escapades in Cuba. Part Two next week, which is meant to be even more boring. :(

Is he? Errr

Yes, they're both manly no-nonsense men.

I think Butler can act though.

What that man said.

:O I like him but let's not get silly! He's got zero range and one facial expression: scowl.

:D

Finally managed to get hold of a copy of the movie Welcome To The Dollhouse (1995).

Great film. Although I love Todd Solondz's controversial black comedy Happiness, I was very disappointed with (in fact, hated) its sequel Love During Wartime (as I mentioned in a previous post); so to see something else by this director (and this was his debut feature) held for me mixed expectations.

It explores some dark and sometimes disturbing territory, as I probably was expecting, but is very funny and touchingly sad along the way. Essentially a US high school tale of being a misfit - both at school and within one's own family - it manages to be so much more than your average coming-of-age drama. The lead performance by Heather Matarazzo (then 13, now 28) is exceptional. In fact, Solondz draws great performances out of all the child actors.

Although it has some "controversial" moments and themes, it's not quite in the same league of discomfort as Happiness. It manages to feel warmer and more human than that movie as well. No happy ending, but definitely the right ending. It reminded me just how much of a nightmare growing-up and getting through school can be.

Really, really recommend giving it a go if you can find it. :)

I love Solenz, have you see Palindromes? It is weird how such a tricksy, daft idea mixed with such a contentious subject is still utterly aces.

Also saw Gentleman Broncos. One of those daft films that is hilarious.

Seen neither, but will be looking to get to those. ;)

I'd watch Palindromes first. It's quite a remarkable it's one of those rare movies that puts your brain in the ring and then punches the heck out of it for 3 rounds.

I will get on it. Cheers for the heads-up. ;)

EDIT: According to Wiki at least, Palindromes is the sequel to ...Dollhouse.
