I've just seen... Page 123

Oh god, I totally meant to see that. Forgot all about it.

I've got it on DVD, but am yet to watch it :(

Iron Man 2; LOADS better than the reviews suggested.

Went to see Barney's Version last night.

Very enjoyable, with many sweet, funny and genuinely sad moments. Paul Giamatti's performance was absolutely superb and confirms him as one of the best character actors around. He was given really strong support throughout the cast, especially by Dustin Hoffman as his father; plus a really fun and funny performance by Minnie Driver as his 'Jewish Princess' 2nd wife.

Even at around 2h 15m long, the story itself seemed like it had been slightly truncated. I haven't read the novel from which the movie was adapted, but I expect quite a lot of subplot had to be excised in order to get this down to a sub-3 hour film. However, the main story still survives pretty much intact and makes for an interesting and slightly different kind of comic drama, which I'd say is well worth a watch. It's far from perfect in either plot or execution, but the lead character and his story kept me in my seat all the way up to a genuinely moving ending.

An absolute shocker that Giamatti didn't even get an Oscar nomination for this performance. (Though at least the Golden Globes saw sense.)

Oh, and I saw some reviews touting this as an "exploration of Jewish-Canadian life", or some such bollocks. Yes, it's set in Montreal. Yes, the main character is Jewish. Beyond that (and possibly some very subtle points) though, it's actually just a story about a flawed, but well-meaning, human being. :)

Top actor, Giamatti. And how I imagine the average BCGer to look.

John Gordon Sinclair. He came to buy rail tickets off me last night and he was talking on his mobile.

He came in again tonight so I asked him was he was doing at the moment. He said he was in the play "The Invisible Man" but it was due to finish next week. Quite innocently I said unfortunately I wouldn't be able to see it.

I think the Invisible man might post on here sometimes.
Calls himself Graham Bandage.

I saw the invisible man on his day off.

Severance. I didn't have high hopes for this (it stars Danny Dyer) but I enjoyed it. And Andy Nyman is very good in a role a million miles away from his producer in Dead Set.

Watched The King of Kong recently, it's OK, not quite as good as I'd hoped, the finale was a bit of an anticlimax.

It was fascinating though
& Billy Mitchell was a real knobhead.

Loved King Of Kong, and you couldn't have written a better, weirder bad guy.

It was fascinating though

The story's the story, just disappointed that, due to the nature of Donkey Kong, i.e. it's a single-player game, we didn't get to see the pair actually play against other.

I picked it up on DVD last year having never heard of it and was amazed by how great it was. Excellent film.

Terminator: Salvation. I had such low expectations that I quite enjoyed it. And I didn't realise until the credits that Stan Winston is dead. :(
