Isn't Penn and Teller: Bullshit! broadcast in the UK? Should be mandatory viewing. Scooby Doo also teaches viewers that spooky stuff is fake.

To be fair to Derren, he has repeatedly and consistently always told everyone that his methods are based on various forms of trickery (misdirection, suggestion etc) and psychological study; he explains that it's something's a trick (why he has to always tell them the real method, I don't know - work it out for yourself); he even tells everyone during the programme that certain "powers" simply don't exist... then he still gets bollocked by some who say "Not fair! It's a big trick! He's not really psychic!". It's makes me despair sometimes...
He will usually do a trick and explain most (either directly or indirectly) of the methods used to achieve it. He usually likes to leave something for us to think about, otherwise it would just be spoon-feeding. For example, last night in the Hamleys toy-shop stunt, he explained (to a degree) how the woman came to pick the giraffe toy. What he didn't explain is how he "guessed" what name she'd give it.

Weak.
and I thought you were a comedy writer, with an agent too...
I was being serious, Scotti.

I must have missed the bit during his lottery 'prediction' when he explained it was a split-screen trick. Instead I saw him later claiming it was because of 'the wisdom of the crowd' method. I just fear that dumb people are being made even dumber by this sort of crap. It's like 'Ghost Hunter' shows that are so popular nowadays in parts of Asia, encouraging people to be superstitious and believe that ghosts exist. More Scooby Doo repeats needed to educate this planet. And to think my cat said I would never amount to anything because I watched too much Scooby Doo.
He cut the woman off quite quickly when she said she felt stuck before the film even started, I wonder why!?
Good TV show though.

The "wisdom of crowds" thing was a very deliberate (if slightly double-edged) compliment to the viewing audience. The wisdom of the crowd analysed the evidence, based on what they already knew about Derren's methods and (in the majority) concluded that the stunt was done using a camera trick. The crowd looked for how Derren could have done it without a camera trick and decided that he couldn't have.
So he was entirely correct to say that the "wisdom of crowds" prevailed, predicting the method of the stunt and - therefore - his lottery "prediction".
Simple. I predict that he will point out all of the above at the end of the series.
Heheh.
You tell 'em Tim!
