How dare you! It's a while since I read the book, but I thought it was gung ho hackwork. The film has a fun satirical element. As for Heinlein, I'd like to see a lot of his stuff adapted, especially Stranger in a Strange Land.

Exactly, one of the finest pieces of gung-ho hackwork ever!

I'm not convinced that Stranger in a Strange Land would really make a very good film.

Wasn't it by Allen Dean Foster, king of the film novelisation?

I don't recall tbh. Is he one of the worst authors to ever have put print to paper? If so, probably was.

Sometimes unfilmable books make interesting films, such as The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Before Marc P came along, yes! :P

Only joking Marc, I ruddy love you!

Rumble Fish was a boring book but better as a film - still weird though.

although I should be deeply ashamed since I thought it was a doughnut :(

So is not a giant disconnected anus...? :| Well I never.

Nobody's mentioned Dan Brown yet?

Nobody wants to admit to having read one?

Wasn't there a whole bit about the Da Vinci code?

I read the first paragraph, laughed in all the worng places and had to put it down quickly. Very badly written, but haven't seen the film either, Although Ewan McGregor's in the second one isn't he, so I'm sure I'll have a look at that some time. :)
