48 Hour Film Challenge

Anyone else taking/ or taken part in this? It's on the weekend of 26th Sept.

http://www.48hourfilm.com/london/

We've already done the 48 hour film challenge for the 2 Days Later Festival in October

How was it? Did you all stay together for the entire weekend? Any tips?! Did you stick to specific time allocations for scripting/ production/ editing etc.

I'll be taking part - what's your team name? I'll look out for your film.

:)

Grain S'media. You?

Intrepid Films - that's a shame - we're in different groups so I may not get to see your film.

Good luck though - it should be fun and stressful at the same time.

It was a really good experience. Even though the film didn't have a big budget and some of our continuity was a bit off in a couple of places, it was such a good thing to do. I really enjoyed it and it gave me a really good feeling, to think that we'd done this in 48 hours.

I stayed in a hotel and some people just got coaches back home. While others lived in the area of Manchester anyway.

Maybe see you at the awards pub night thing! Just noticed they charge £10 for honour of seeing your own work. Nice.

I think you're talking about a different festival event than the one that we've taken part in.

Soz. That was directed at Jane. Good luck with yours......

Hi Simon

Getting nervous?

I didn't know about the awards thing - I'll be there to watch ours (hopefully) on Tuesday and possibly see you at the awards whenever that is?

Good luck again - let us know how you get on.

Not yet! I assume panic will creep in once assigned a holiday film/ femme fatale cross over. Not a fan of the forced genre allocation. Fine with horror, sci- fi, but really just want to make comedy. When do you plan to finish shooting? We aim to wrap late Sat night. Then a Sunday edit. How many locations have you sorted !? Best of luck BTW.

Agreed, I'd rather do something with some comedy in! Our plan is write Friday - keep writing and shoot Saturday and edit Sunday. Who knows what will happen in reality though!? I don't know our situation re locations yet - we do have access to London Underground but I've no idea if that will help or not.

We'll have to swap notes after.

How's it going? What catergory did you get? We got 'Buddy movie'. Our studio rig (holding up the lights) broke yesterday morning. It's currently held up with a mixture of gaffer, no more nails and polyfilla. Yikes. Fortunately it held and finished shoot yesterday night. Editing today. Thought the line 'I hope it's not swine flu' was a bit uninspired. And can't believe we have to pay to see our work next week!!

Hiya.

We got the genre Fantasy which wasn't great - my personal favourite would have been mockumentary but at least it wasn't Musical/ Western. I feel for whoever got that - how can you get the stupid swine flu line in a Western!? How did you get on with the Buddy one?

We didn't like the prop (Orange) or the character (Banker) either. :(

So it took a while to get going with the writing but we hada draft by about 4am Sat morning. Majority of ours was filmed in a park yesterday - we were really lucky with the light - although had to cut a scene as we over ran and couldn't film it in the dark.

It's actually gone quite well though - she says cautiously. Hope that continues! We've had hiccups with previous ventures so it's been great making this one. Editing and composing started yesterday while filming continued - and obviously is carrying on now. We should have a bloopers reel too for the director's cut. :-) I think it will go on utube - hope yours does too and we can compare notes.

Still need a title though and working on the logline.

I won't see you there tonight but hope to meet at the awards when we pick up best use of an orange or something.

Good luck in the final push!

Jane x
