Shouldn't this be under the British sitcoms category or am I missing something?

I think episode two confirmed its been written as a sitcom. Constant attempts at comedy/jokes through out. A comedy drama can have many scenes without any comedy attempts in it at all and that's why its usually an hour long, plus.

Anyway, I still can't get past the "it's trying to be like Pulling" feel. Having the same actress in it doesn't help. Pulling was in a different league to a lot of sitcoms so its no shame to not be as good, but its too similar too.

Enjoyed episode 2. Bit concerned that they do seem to have decided to not explore the details of Gaynor's last 12 years. Leaving this as a blank page will either prove to be interestingly mysterious, or (more likely) lead people to think "So what?". It's fine that her character within her group of friends is the one suffering the most arrested development, but personally I think it's missing a trick not to at least give the odd nugget of back-story as to what's happened to her. Don't know how long the "little girl lost" act will be sustainable.

There were fun moments and good lines in this week's show, coupled with some good performances. Liked the tour of the flat and the cocaine on the cheeseboard. Sometimes though the dialogue and performance errs towards the melodramatic, almost more what you'd expect from a stage play.

I'd like to hear a few more opinions from our female members as to how credible this bunch of girlfriends is from a woman's perspective. That said, I don't think this show is particularly a "girl thing".

Oh, and this is definitely a sitcom.

I loved the bit about putting the cocaine in the fridge so it'll keep. :D

Credible? :O

I don't think they're going for credible!

OK, making allowances for the fact this is a comedy, is there anything credible in the group dynamics of a bunch of girly friends like this? Errr

Erm.
I guess maybe in a group of 14 year olds. Which is I suppose what they're going for really.
There would be the bossy, controlling one, and the weaker followers. (Same as a group of teenage boys really.)

I'm not surprised to hear that. They all seem to be a bit too childish all the time.

Personally I found this a bit weak but then I don't think it's aimed at the likes of me.

Agree that it was an improvement from episode one. Some actual lols from me, rather than just a couple of amused chuckles. It is still a little dry for my sense of humour (and the guy who she was out on the balcony with I just cannot buy as being more than 19, he looks so young), but a good show nonetheless.

Just downloaded ep. 1 via iPlayer. Just to clear up all doubts about whether it is a sitcom, the beeb helpfully describe it as a 'documentary'.

Better than the first episode but still nothing special. We've seen this sort of stuff a thousand times before, and although there were a few nice moments along the way, it's just not enough. It also doesn't help that it's a first person narrative, with the central character in pretty much every scene. And since the central character isa such a godawful drip it does make the show heavy going at times.

And where was she for 12 years? By not explaining they make it such a big deal that when we eventually find out we'll inevetiably feel short changed.

(Just to put this issue to bed: it's definitely a sitcom - the wrong classification came from an early press release)

Anyway, I'm loving this. Quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. The character of Becky (the business-woman one) is very strongly written. Shame Rebekah Staton hasn't been given much to do yet though.

Haven't seen this yet - but I heard it was written by two complete newcomers who'd never had anything commissioned before. Hope for all, then.

Well, every writer has to be previously non-commissioned at some stage. (Though there's a difference between never having anything commissioned and actually having had a script or three commissioned which didn't make it to screen.)

I really enjoyed that, best episode so far. :)
