Private Critique Page 2

I agree that good writers are able to point out technical problems/achievements but I do think personal preference can't help but come into play on deciding whether something is funny or not.

Actually very little I've found. People may surprise you with their objectivity. It's also worth remembering that most readers (who are also writers and appreciate the work that goes into a script) do actually look to be entertained and find good things to say when reading another's work.

Ronnie, you are coming across as quite defensive in this thread. That is not perhaps going to encourage anyone to critique your work.

I'll read it Ronnie if you want. I'll only offer constructive criticism and if I don't understand where you're coming from I'll ask you about it before passing judgement. It's useful for writer's to read other people's stuff I find, especially when they've got a really funny joke or concept you can steal. But being serious I will read it and offer some advice if I can, I'm a trustworthy guy, no honestly I really am. *checks inbox* :(

Cheers giggle. I shall send you the script in the next few days.

True, but I am honeslty not defensive. I love having my work criticised, as often, if it helps me improve it can be a bit of a quantam leep. Because I am pretty open to it, I am quite careful to have my work looked at by people who I think are the best judges. Sometimes I have taken on board criticism and realised quite a bit down the line after that it was detrimental to my writing. I realise that people are going to make criticsms that aren't always accurate, however, I don't think there's any harm in safeguarding yourself a bit, escpeically if, as in this case, the work has to be completed quite soon.

:S But how do you know you can trust him? Or that he likes your style of comedy?

Or am I just being an arse now?

Yes that is a good point. But I like his/her vibe so I am going with my instinct.

I'll do as I'm told! Besmirching my character Bigfella?! Well I never! *flounces off to critique section to steal more comedy*.

BTW I'm a boy, just, and my name is Adam and I'm 9 years and two months old I have a labiador dog and I like football and and... No I'm 25 and still trustworthy.

No. Just trying to make a point. :)

Listen to Tim Ronnie, he talks sense.

I absolutely agree with you, Tim is a very sensible chap.

I have actually done some rigorous detective work and I can tell you I can't think of anyone better to critique my work than someone who specialises in stories about pandas that look like polar bears.
