Marketing is an important part of the creative process. It can really help with your focus if you know which direction you're heading in. It's like trying to go somewhere new without a map, you're bound to get lost.

What if you create your own map?

That is not out of the question. In fact "your own map" is a must.

As is your own trousers.

And stout shoes.

Might one need a packed lunch?

My lunch box is pretty damn well packed, I can tell you that much.
Oh sorry wrong thread.

I read a lot of good sketches in critque and then think - its funny but where the f**k are you going to sell it?

Whenever I write stuff I do it with a very strong thought on where it will sell.

I think it is impossible not to have an eye on writing something that will sell. I am pretty sure every single first time writer must have something in the back of their mind that the thing they are writing will get on the telly even though it is more than likely a piece of shit.

Though, in saying that, the best thing I have written, which I feel was a bit of qunatom leap in my writing style, was written as a sitom but I soon found out was unsuitable mainly due to the idea not being one which had a lot of longevity, but is starting to look very promising now I have converted it into a play.

No but I knew someone who snuck in dressed as a Monkey and managed to record a few snippets onto cassette tape. All I remember there was the sound of a lot of tussling and the low moan of "Take that you Bastards."
