Are any of your locks still manually operated still? I think the majority of Ottawa's are done by hand still.

I didn't know there was an alternative way? Laughing out loud

That reminds me, we went here a few weeks ago :) Foxton Locks,

Oh! I know of two but there the big ones where its basically a part of the road that move. So I guess that would be more of a bridge.

I'd love to live in a small village in the Derbyshire countryside called Edale, pretty much a hamlet but a beautiful bit of countryside.

I went there for a school trip in year 5. It is indeed beautiful. Pleased

Edale -that's the one that had the plauge isn't it?

I would love to have a home in the Cotswolds.

Somewhere where can enjoy the countryside or the beach yet have ready access to city life and a decent bus service.

I think everywhere had the plague.

No, but I know the one you mean, Eypre or something? The village decided to isolate themselves, knowing that it would mean almost certain death, in order to stop the spread of the disease. I've visted there and it had a pretty creepy atmosphere, but then a lot of Derbyshire's like that. :)

Just remembered it's Eyam (I think).

Yep - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyam

Interesting!

That is a pretty creepy looking place.
