Feedback you genuinely don't agree with?

Ever received some negative feedback from someone that aside from any bitterness at them not liking your script, you actually don't agree with them, and actually think that they are very wrong?

Happened to me today.

Of course.
Everyone will see things in a different way.
You just have to try to evaluate whether they may have a point or just ignore them.

Does this include critique?

Otherwise only when I've been working as part of a sketch troupe. These are places where dreams are crushed and idiocy venerated. Like being in the Conservative party with less gayness.

What a poorly written post this is. It's dull, dull and we've been there before. Sorry Steve but agreeing with people was done by Mitchell and Webb and done better.

YWB.

This thread's a bit shit isn't it? Probably the worst thread I've ever not read.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with that feedback SootyJ.
But you're very brilliant for pointing that out, oh great one.
:D

I take the magnanimous view that people are allowed to be wrong when criticising my work.

Well I didn't agree with a lot of the things my last but one girlfriend said about me in her - very long and detailed - Dear John e-mail. Mind you it made a refreshing change to simply not returning my calls. And taking out a banning order. Any feedback really is better than none.

Details?

Well apparently I am immature and have difficulty committing - Oh, Jacob!

Details?

I'd sent a script to a producer, he came back to me and slated all my characters, said my plot was poor etc etc. I sent him an e-mail back explaining why the characters are that way, and why the plot is how it is.

I know I'm right about this one, as his suggestions as to how I should change my script were shocking, suggestions I wouldn't even consider.

Just annoyed me a bit that these people are in a powerful position, yet I wasn't impressed at all with his feedback/advice/critique - whatever you want to call it.

I don't mind taking criticism when the person giving it makes a fair point.

Hard to tell without specifics. What was it about the plot for example he didn't like?

Bizarrely, I quite like negative feedback. I get uneasy when people are too positive. Fortunately I don't get uneasy often.

Without going into specifics, how well regarded a producer is he? Does he have a track record you respect, or is he just someone you've never heard of but sent a script to anyway?
