What did you think, did you like it? It has a lot of talent involved, but my memory is that it was a bit cold and not very funny.
Obscure/Lesser Known Movie Recommendations Page 9
Can we get some sort of filter on this thread? People just seem to be mentioning films they caught on daytime cable and going 'Yeah, it's alright'.
I want to wowed by unknown cinematic masterpieces, not some junk 60s film that was passable.
Or am I being unkind?

It's still on my sky+ planner so I haven't actually watched it yet, but I shall let you know if I feel the same.

I thought since it was a comedy forum you might be looking for unknown comedies.
Hence my recommendation Glorydaze
I think I may watch it today.
The Wages of Fear.

Nooooo! Don't make it comedy specific, otherwise you'll have the weirdos going on about old Laurel and Hardy movies or Chalie 'Frickin' Chaplin. Many, many years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, they would put on short films and cartoons before the main feature at the cinema.
Nothing's worse then listening to people laugh out loud at some lame ass piece o'crap Foghorn Leghorn cartoon, which everyone had seen a million times on the telly anyway. These were usually the same idiots who laughed at some of the adverts which had been shown a million times on the television.
'Look, Rowan Atkinson's Tuareg rug is on fire!'
Renegade needs flamethrower now!
Accident, starring Dirk Bogarde, written by Harold Pinter.
'The Knack, and How To Get It', by Richard Lester, starring Michael Crawford
Cold Comfort Farm--one of the best movie adaptations of a book that I've ever seen. The cast was perfect and nobody over here has ever heard of it, even with Kate Beckinsale being all popular now.

I did that yesterday around noon.
Ah, say, well, Ah say Ah say I do love those there Looney Tunes.
Quote: Kenneth @ September 1 2009, 11:40 PM BSTClue: Based on the boardgame Cluedo. Stars Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull and others. Directed and co-written by Jonathan Lynn (of Yes Minister). Just a silly who-dunnit, but lots of fun.
Murder By Death: Peter Sellers, Peter Falk, David Niven, Alec Guinness, Truman Capote and others. Another very silly who-dunnit film. Peter Falk is excellent as a Bogart-type Sam Spade detective.
Heh, love both of those.
My recommendation would be Kontroll, a Hungarian black comedy about underground train ticket inspectors and a serial killer. Saw it by accident one night and it is great: funny, moving, spooky and surprisingly romantic!
Quote: Clockface @ September 2 2009, 2:13 AM BSTPeeping Tom
Very creepy and disturbing film.

LOVE this. I really enjoyed the adaptation, it was fun and exciting and the elder brother was l-u-sh!

Anyone see Plunkett & Macleane? I really liked that one. I suppose it would be considered less obscure in the UK though.
I love Plunkett and Macleane, such a fun film and it's nice to see Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle together again! The soundtrack is probably more famous than the film though - Hanging/Escape constantly gets used on film trailers and Top Gear.
A cock and Bull Story with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon is a very funny film that doesn't seem to get much love.
I've been recommending The Escapist to anyone and everyone - fab little film with Brian Cox in a starring role that follows a group of convicts as they attempt to escape from Prison. Steven Mackintosh is particularly good as resident Psycho Tony.
Hu-man; a 70s SciFi film starring Jeanne Moreau and Terence Stamp is so obscure I've never met anyone who has seen it or knows where you can find it. Anyone who knows how or where to get a copy, I'd be most interested.
I'm not really much of a film buff, but I'd like to add one to the list, if I may.
The Gods must be Crazy
I can't tell you if it's any good, but it made me laugh a lot.
Western Approaches. This is second hand I'm afraid as I have not seen it myself. Apparently the best film set at sea tells of merchant men during WW2 being captured and used as bait by a German U-Boat. It didn't use any actors but actual merchant seaman and was filmed in about 1943.
