Seventy years on...

70 years ago today, Nazi Germany invaded Poland. (Yes, they started it.) It wasn't until Sunday the 3rd that we officially declared war, but today is the generally acknowledged start of World War II.

Not sure what else to say to be honest, but thought such a noteable milestone should be mentioned.

Our American friends can join the thread in 2 and a quarter years. Unimpressed

But they'll only join in after we've given them the website as payment. Angry

Actually my dad wrote a very interesting and detailed diary that year. I keep thinking about getting it published. A fascinating account of family life at the time.

Did you fight, or were you just evacuated to a small mining town in Wales.

Yep, that sounds like something that'd be a good seller. Although I'd say you're at least a year late, but still...

Go for the 75th anniversary. :)

100th!

There's a lot of nostalgia for World War 2, probably because it was the last 'clean' war with definite villains and objectives. Even today, thanks to video games, films, television shows, books, comics, etc. there seems to be a never ending fascination for the war.
