British Comedy Guide

Newbie yet passionate

Hello hello hello all... another new person from Blighty here. ^__^

Quick information, then: Good comedy has saved my life on many occasions, even literally once, I think. I tend to go through phases of being completely obsessed with one show/comedian(s) and feeling like I'll never move on, before the next one comes along. My first obsession was Whose Line Is It Anyway (UK), the show that opened the world of British comedy to me with a bang. Currently I'm on the Vic & Bob line, and have very nearly watched/listened to everything they've ever done, as well as knowing a startling amount of trivia about them. Which scares me slightly, but it's just how I do things! C8
I have a tendency to like older and older-fashioned comedy best, but there is potloads of modern gold too. I generally don't like stand-up comedy at all, with only rare exceptions (Eddie Izzard being one such rare case, lego versions included). I think it's the format, really, the fact that someone is stood in front of you, constantly trying to make you laugh. I'm more of a panel-show person. C:

....and now (if you bothered to read that) you know a load of useless information about me! Congratulations! Wave

Hi Lieka!

Which old Vic and Bob stuff did you like best?
Have you even watched Families at War? :O

Hello.

Heya zooo! Eeeesh, the impossible question. I think that each thing that they've done has brought a different element to itself, and so from Big Night Out to Shooting Stars, their style has... mutated on a sliding scale. ^__^ It's easier to work out things I liked the least: the only thing they've done that I didn't like was Vic Reeves' House Arrest, the radio show, and even that had the occasional moment IMO. Monkey Trousers was also pretty weak, but had many things which were brilliant.

And, alas, I have had to draw the conclusion that Families at War is the only thing impossible to get hold of now. If you know differently, do share? I would also like to compliment you on your choice of signature. It is a thought that often drifts through my mind. 8D

Hello again Aaron, thanks again for letting me bother you earlier. :>

Aw, unfortunately I don't have Families at War, no.
I watched it when it went out and really enjoyed it! Not something I wanted them to do more of, but parts of it were actually hilarious.

Welcome...

Hello Wave

Liëka, what do you make of Tittybangbang? Pleased

I don't. It may be Pett Productions, but it's not what I'm after. Whistling nnocently

...I haven't seen it, to be honest. But I have heard the general consensus about it, and have decided that it doesn't count. *determined face*

Ha! I'm with you to be honest.

Please let's at least try and pretend Tittyb- "that show" didn't happen.

Welcome, BTW. Wave

I have a soft spot for it. I don't know why. Perhaps it was when I watched Little Miss Jocelyn and saw just how dire sketch shows really CAN be.

Was it the one where they had all those (some rather larger) ladies naked in a regular sketch? Because I did find that one quite funny.

In Tittybangbang? Yes, sounds familiar.

Has 'LMJ' been recommissioned, out of interest?
