The London Comedy Unit

Is this any good to anyone?

The London Comedy Unit

The London Comedy Unit is looking for experienced London-based writers to join a professional team to engage in developing scripts for television.

Based on a US-style large-group writing team model, the writers will meet weekly in Soho from 16th September from 0900-11:30am. Founded by Writers' Guild members with established track records in the industry, LCU will develop a range of scripts largely in the sitcom genre.

Interested writers are encouraged to apply by submitting a CV to info@londoncomedyunit.com

What do the mean by "experienced"?

Or ... if I have to ask...

From what I gather this isn't anything to do with Scottish production company The Comedy Unit and their London branch.

What about the military coves who turn up in Doctor Who then? Anything to do with them?

Yes. It's them.

What about my tiny, deformed junk? Anything to do with that?

I really don't know much about this company other than it came through from the Writers' Guild. Mind you, a few years back I was involved with a Soho based group that John Junkin (for younger members, ask your parents) was part of so I guess you never know.

Thanks for this Baumski.

I'm not sure that I'd qualify, but I wanted to find out more and all I could see was one web page under construction.

How did you find out about it?

JP

Edit: I was posting at the same time as you. No harm in asking I guess!

As I said, it came through from the Writers' Guild so it's nice to know there are some benefits for being a member.

Are you going for it Baumski?

I've emailed them so I'll let you know if I find out any more.

I know some people look down on that kind of group writing but I've always wanted to try it at least!

Jx

I'm going to give it a miss. I'm now domiciled in Dorset and only travel back when I have to but as for looking down on these things, well, confidentially, I can't stand comedy snobs.

By the way, for fans of Seinfeld and Vandelay Industries, check this out. http://www.bustedtees.com/vandelayindustries?utm_medium=CPA&utm_source=UrbanDictionary&utm_term=BT160URBAN3

I'd love to give it a go but fear I'm not qualified enough.

I would join definitely, but unfortunately I am not based in London

I wish there was something like this in the beautiful north.

I wonder who and what this people are. I wonder why they chose a name so similar to one already in use.
