Oh my giddy aunt!
This show ran its course some time ago. It should be allowed to die. They won't axe it, of course, but they should. Noel Fielding is something of a one-trick pony. An amusing one, yes, but nothing particularly special comedically. I hope he manages to stay off the cocaine though.
I agree with Spagett and Tim... with just Phil Jupitus now left, it's probably time this show was put to bed.
Seeing as it is continuing though, I'm at least pleased to hear Noel Fielding isn't returning (for whatever reason). Scatterbrained Floozy sums up my opinion well...
Quote: Scatterbrained Floozy @ August 17 2009, 8:06 PM BST... he's just not that funny on panel shows. "Oooh! I'll say some stuff about rainbows, obscure marsupials, electro bands and retro sweets much older than I am! They'll love me!" It's just random for the sake of trying to be funny and different.
One thing that is clear though - he didn't do that News Of The World interview voluntarily. It's clear NOTW tactics: "Give us an exclusive interview or we're going to publish some pictures of you doing drugs." - They did a similar thing to Duncan from Blue the other week (but about men insteads of drugs)
The sheer hypocrisy of the media/BBC over the use of drugs does stagger me though. Considering that the almost-ubiquitous use of illegal drugs amongst the media community it really is a bit rich (if not surprising) for them to "expose" anyone.
I figured Alan Davies career survived because he was open about the incident afterwards. Combine that with his existing popular public image and he survived where he would have lost if he tried to downplay or deny the incident.
I think Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle should captain the teams.
Mates of yours?
Ahhh!
Yes Simon Amstell was basically the show since he joined and unless they can add either a host or team captain who will deliver as consistently as Britain's Bill Hicks (Amstell), then sadly it's run its course.

But Subutex isn't!
I'd like to see Frank Skinner take over, but then I'd like to see him as a regular on any panel show.
I agree with Mark and Scatters about Fielding. He was a bit one dimensional on there.
Quote: Sebastian Orange-News @ August 19 2009, 11:09 PM BSTBritain's Bill Hicks (Amstell)
In what conceivable way is Amstell the British Bill Hicks? (Anyway, as Nathan Barley pointed out, Freddie Starr "was kinda the original Bill Hicks".)
Amstell is Britain's Bill Hicks in that he is not willing to "suck Satan's cock" in order to be successful. Although he has done slighty whorish things such as appear on Popworld he has always insisted on doing it his way and mocking the idiots he had to interview. The main reason he is Britain's Bill Hicks is his style of stand up, which although not as policitical is based on his own strong beleifs and is not just amusing and exaggerated anecdotes.
