Twelvepoint - although like the pro she is you have to pay.

*I mean pro in the good way.

For example playwrights. Maybe only comedy writers are lazy enough to piss about all day on here while dramatists get on with their work.

Comedy writers are dramatists. Honest. My agent is a "dramatists' agent", which means I must be a dramatist. I've not an inferiority complex, no sir-ee, Bob!
Errr

Absolute write water cooler is another writers' site I use - it's us based but has a fair few brits on it, and sections for all types of writing

The first writing/comedy site I went on was the Writers Dock (before I knew about the BSG)
It used to be quite fun.
They've changed the website recently and the Comedy section is now, for want of a better word moribund.

screenwritinggoldmine.com

I think that;s what it's called. Looks an interesting site with some useful resources and some forums.

Just to say - and sorry if it's already been posted elsewhere - that the aforementioned 4morelaughs website has closed, sadly. I want to say thanks to former 4laugher Scott the Dot for managing to run it for so long.

Anyone mention TriggerStreet?
It's very Hollywood but you'll get some pretty good crit for screenplays - albeit of the "your protagonists arc falls flat after the second beat and your first reversal doesn't push the narrative into the 2nd Act" variety

It's quite funny putting up very 'english' stuff and watching their heads explode.

Sounds like the course I'm doing. :)

I'm not saying that there aren't very valid rules that should be followed when considering how to structure a feature screenplay, just that mostly the problem with a screenplay is that it doesn't have a strong enough story to support it. A lot of 1st/2nd/3rd act stuff is mainly obvious by watching a film or reading the screenplay with your writer's hat on.

And they don't tell you that they all live in their parents' basements.

Really? Are all screenwriters Austrian? :O

No idea, but I have 2 friends from school that are still in mom and dad's basement and their screenplays are most likely going to optioned in Hollywood.

Hang on they're in your mom and dad's basement? Did you have difficulties hanging onto friends and your parents decided to help out?
