Nice Surprise - What Now? Page 4

She's referring to how they speak (their 'voice') rather than their actual physical voice, if you see what I mean. ie not accents/whether they drop their 'h's but their attitudes/pov's/opinions. The problem might very well be, you're giving them the same opinion about some subject (probably your own opinion), whereas they need to have very differing opinions. This can be hard cos you might think, for instance, that smoking should be made completely illegal, so writing a character who actually smokes, is physically a difficult thing to do. Hope that's of some help. Maybe...

Basically, someone reading your script should be able to tell who is speaking without having to look at (or by covering up) the character names. If you get to that stage, you're alright.

It's one of those truisms that the spirit of it is true rather than concrete actuality. As Dan says it is the pov that is important in any particular exchange, the words can be exactly the same it's the attitude that's important.

I often wonder if we blocked out avatars and names, whether we could deetermine who was posting just by their words. Do we all have recognisable "voices" on here?

If we blocked out your avatars there'd be no point in visiting this board.

:D

*claps*

I'm coming towards the end of my re-write.

A point raised by the producer was she was a little concerned the concept didn't have long term legs

I feel this isn't the case, should I include possible additional episodes, when I re send it to her?

I see Griff is online. Wave Hello, Griff!

bigfella, did you make references to your characters long term goals? Example; Only Fools' - "Millionaires".

If it was just a completely contained episode, only supported by the historical facts. Then you're telling us nothing new. What is your character of Henry trying to achieve in the long term?

I shouldn't offer advice, I just confuse the situation.

Yes, if you truely believe the concept as is has legs, and they're questioning that fact, then include a breakdown for the rest of the series to illustrate. A short paragraph which gives the gist of each episode will be enough.

No advice is good.

Of course the central character is Cromwell. His long term aim is aquire ebnough money and influence to be finally accepted by the upper classes.

Wolsey wants to be Pope.

Henry is after George, as is Katherine, who wants to acheive it by bumping off Henry.

Is one series enough?

Of course, I forget. :)

You can always give the first series, then a little collection of other ideas, to show you have even more potential stories ready to pick from. A decent paragraph for the first series episodes, then a simple line or two to illustrate the additional ideas should do it.

No Thomas More. :(

If The Tudors can run to more than one episode...

Well you could also feature hatchbacks and saloons.
