Just back from Holiday.
Had a really nice break from any writing ambitions - apart from plotting out a children's historical novel type thing.
I'd left writing alone for a bit before I went.
I'd done 50,000 words of my book but there are still no takers - although my agent has only sent it to 10 publishing companies so far. She is hearing the same story - bad time for publishing, also I'm a man. Woman are in into weight loss - so the story has to be a woman, which is a bugger cos I didn't have a sex change.
So was getting down by that.
I'd run out ideas for NR / TS and didn't send anything for the last couple of runs.
So was generally feeling a bit negative about it all.
Then I come home and find an email from a major pro co - saying they liked the script I sent.
I could have fallen off my chair.
Basically it says they like what they read, but felt that the idea might not "run and run" as it comes to a natural end. But also felt that with a tweak could work.
They also said if I have anything further then I should send it over.
So what now?
This script was the first thing I had ever written comedy wise - before I started doing stuff for NR / TS etc.
I have done another sitcom since - which I feel is tonnes better.
The obvious thing is to send that over straight away with a CV.
But should I also ask if they want to see a script of the orginal sitcom but with a rework ( also they only read the pilot - this was not a mid series episode)
Any thoughts would be welcome as always.
Cheers All ( Nice to make away from 46degree heat and bush fires - Aaron would have hated it)
EDIT - Sorry that was the first thing I typed for three weeks - sorry for the typos and thanks to those who ploughed through it and got the idea of what I was saying.
