Cheltenham Screenwriters Festival

Does anyone have any experience of this festival?

I may go as part of the film group I'm involved in. It's quite pricey but I would love to go to the Armando Iannucci session for a start.

As someone who still knows very little about all this it may be way over my head but it does sound pretty interesting.

You could ask him the definitive spelling of his name. Unimpressed

Thanks Chip - I always have trouble with his name! Checked and amended accordingly.

I have trouble with both names! Great man, but I wish he was called John Brick or something easy.

Agreed. But I'm now going with the IMDB version.

And thanks for making me waste my 600th post on a spelling issue. At least Aaron would approve.

>_<

I'm going, but all the 'tips on networking' I've read at Twelvepoint say 'Don't get sucked into mingling with other writers! Time spent with the competition is time wasted not networking with producers and pitching to agents' Which seems a tad harsh. However that good (?) advice is already out the window as there are a group of us going so if anyone wants to meet up, feel free to e-mail.

Thanks Tim although now I have to apologise twice in one thread. I'd say close this one but it has more entries than the first.

Maybe I'll see you there Lazzard?

I'm still none the wiser as to whether it's any good but I will no doubt start another thread about it if I do go.

ps Tim - I didn't know you were a moderator now. Or are you like one of those unofficial Guardian Angels from the 1980s? I miss those guys on the tube with their red berets. Ooh they even have their own emoticons.

No, I'm no moderator, just an interfering wanker with his own misguided sense of grandiosity.

I'm no moderator, I'm just a man trying to do his job while the world around me crumbles.

OK Tom Cruise.

:)

Well, quite... Errr

And I wouldn't have you any other way. :P

But, hold on, what you've given is a perfect description of a moderator.
