My son has just come back from a nightclub so I can go to bed now. I just had to prove that I am not too old to go to bed later than my children. Night all. Wave

My granddad loved pickled eggs. He always had a massive jar on the counter. Eew.

I once won a charity eating contest by scoffing 17 pickled eggs.

The following year, I won again. This time, 184 Brussels sprouts.

Ah, the great American cuisine... Pickled Egg.

If only. Unfortunately they can't even give them away as there are so many.

There must be a local business, small greengrocer or butcher perhaps, who'd buy the eggs from them?

There's probably laws concerning labelling, Use-by dates and stuff.

True, but a few people in my local area do the same, so whatever laws there may be can't be too big a hassle.

I live on the outskirts of a small market town - there used to be regular livestock and produce markets, auctions and lots of small shops. Now we have become victims of the superstore and most grocers, butchers, fishmongers and the like have closed down. The remaining market stalls are people selling their own produce and competition is fierce. A sad sign of the times.

A great aunt and uncle of mine by marriage used to live self-suffciently in the middle of Bury St Edmonds.

Ace. I'd like to live somewhere like that.

Use-by dates recently began appearing on the eggs at my local supermarket. As you can see, I pay them no mind.

It's a lovely town and is still thriving but has recently succumbed to superstores and a new shopping complex on the grounds of the old cattle market. I hope it doesn't go the same way.

Yeah. It used to be lovely, a real community spirit. You can go from one end of town the the other and not recognise anyone nowadays, we have become a bit of a commuter town.

Apparently they lived in the same place from the 1930s, or maybe even before, living self-sufficiently and the town kind of grew around them. But they stayed there until they passed away about 10 years ago.

MAN#1: I've just been to Bury St Edmunds.

MAN#2: I didn't know he'd been ill.

Someone put some runner beans in my next-door neighbour's bicycle basket overnight.
We still don't know who it was.

When they are in season, I post courgettes through people's doors (only to folk I know though). I guess if I passed an empty bicycle basket on my way I would be tempted to drop off a couple of cougettes too. It's better than just throwing them on the compost heap.
