Vote for The Soylent Green Party!
Dunno the SOylent pants party seems to have a better policy on Europe...

It was a joke, anything supposedly goes on here...except mine of course
Quote: Kevin Murphy @ July 29 2009, 9:14 PM BSTSince this thread exists, and the premise of the OP's joke is what it is, can I ask: is it actually possible for an illegal immigrant or an asylym seeker to claim a giro?
Nobody's really answered this question yet.
I haven't looked into it. But I ask again:
Is it actually possible for an illegal immigrant or an asylym seeker to claim a giro?
If it's not, this joke is bollocks, and we can all go home.

Ever seen them vaulting and dancing?

OK then.
I think this thread might have sparked a more interesting debate if the joke had been both controversial and funny. Without it being funny though, it's hardly worth the bother.
Quote: sootyj @ July 29 2009, 9:32 PM BSTWhat all of them? There were 100,000s who fought for Empire in World War 2.
Many of the Battle of Britain aces were Czecks and Poles.
Alot.
I have no problem with anybody who works in our country, and works hard-they work when our lazy bastard society doesn't.
It is when they don't work, get given a house, hundreds a month benefits, £2500 for a car, and money for food. When british Joe Bloggs has been on a housing list for 3 years, and they get housing as soon as they get off the boat?

I would assume not. I've only been living in the UK for 9 months in this decade.
No it's a complex issue. The DSS has various allowances ranging from nothing and no right to work, upto the equivalent of JSA and the right to work.
Most people coming to this country to work are expected to have an offer of work before they arrive. Generally the number of assylum seakers who are accpeted are quite small.

So, the premise of the joke is horseshit?

I don't think it's normal to psyco analise a joke, it's of the moment or isn't. Get real

Car allowances are a bit of a myth. Assuming some one is given permission to live here and are entitled to disability living allowance they may I suppose spend it on a car. But that's a pretty small minority and it would certainly apply to UK Citizens.
I'm disappointed! when I saw the name of the thread I thought it was going to be about Bernard Manning's clothes

besides, I didn't say 'illegal'

Well statistically if we kicked out all the none Brits most of our economy would drop dead with in a year. If we kicked out all the illegal immigrants and assylum seekers it would make little diference other than curry would get more expensive.

I read somewhere that the average British person believes an asylum seeker's benefits entitlement to be between 2 and 3 times greater than what it actually is.
I just find the whole thing ridiculous...I don't want to sound like an old hippy but for f**k's sake, we all live on the same planet and are part of the same species. If our brother's in trouble we help them, right?
I'm starting to think a New World Order might not be such a bad idea.
