What's your take on forum moderators?

Do you think some take the job far to seriously and morph into jobsworths ?
Or are you more than happy to string along with anything they say ?

I ask this as I disagree with many decisions made by mods on various forums but fortunately the majority don't mind and just occasionally you can get decisions overturned.

I think that their job gets more difficult every day.

Agreed.

You can always go to another forum if it bothers you so much.

I've been offered the job many times but always decline, I agree it's a difficult job that keeps you on your toes and so I stick to posting well away from the decision making.

It doesn't bother me one jot, it was just a general question that should receive an interesting response.

Same as Gavin really. Forums aren't a democracy - if you don't like the moderation on the one you're in, go start your own.

Laughing out loud

Strange, it wasn't meant to be funny but I will take a laugh whenever and wherever possible :)

Use the space bar after a comma.

Arseholes the lot of them.

Do you remember that experiement where some American students were split into two groups and one became the prisoners and the other the guards and psychologists studied them as the group of guards became more and more sadistic to their former fellow students because the power went straight to their heads?

Well, it's nothing like that.

I used to be an arsehole, I mean moderator and it's hard being an active member contributing and being an enforcer of the rules.

Given that their influence pervades our society, forum moderators are not given the credit they deserve for inspiring many of the world's greatest posters, many of whom inhabit the BSG (ahem!). Since it was first compared to antidisestablishmentarianism, much has been said concerning forum moderators on the BCG, of which I can say no more due to legal restrictions and lack of a spoolchecker.

Comparing forum moderators and much of what has been written of them, can be like comparing forum moderators with former Wolves striker Dame Judy Dench. I feel strongly that if some posters spent less time worrying about forum moderators and put more effort into their sex life and posting threads about it (or lack of), we would have threads a lot more thought-provoking than this one!

I think we do a lot more than what you lot think, but I love moderating here and shall continue to do so (unless Aaron sacks me). :)

The best forums have the best moderators. I don't mean that to sound arse licky in any way, but tis true.

Of the three forums I belong to - BCG, Cross Dressing Archery Enthusiasts and the Rob Rouse Love Club, I find myself coming here more then any other forum at the moment.

Could you imagine moderating 14 pages of 'What's your favourite flavour of Jam?' or 23 pages of 'If you had to shag one of the Goodies - which one and why?' (BTW the answers are Raspberry and Tim Brooke Taylor). It would do my nut, so I'm glad there are people more patient and competent then myself to do the computerised leg work.

That's my opinion.

And shit.
