Best comedy podcasts? Page 4

I've just discovered The Best Show on WFMU.

If you're like me (and you're probably not) and used to enjoy listening to James H Reeve or Tim Grundy on Piccadilly 261 you'll probably like this.

Hi folks,
Just to let anyone who might be interested know that BBC College of Production is doing a live Podcast at the Edinburgh Fringe, this Wednesday 22nd August at 12.30. Tune in or, if you're in the area, come along to BBC Potterow - we'll be in the pink tent!

"While gigging will always be important for comedians, these days there are increasingly more success stories from online platforms.

In a time when people can create, record, produce, publish and distribute content themselves, we'll hear advice from some of the comedians who are sharing their content in different ways."

More info here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/academy/collegeofproduction/articles/radio/coming_soon

Hope to see you there.

Hi folks,

Wow! That's some high regard you have for live performance there.

I'm not saying podcasting and YouTube doesn't have a place but until they invent a little pill you can swallow so Peter Kay comes in your ear I think for 99% of performers traditional gigs will still be the number one method of 'putting stuff out there'.

Where ever 'there' is.

You could test this Podcast v Live theory by actually popping along to my final show of the fringe at The Beehive in the Grassmarket from 12-1pm.

Check my Myspace page for details!

We've got a guestlist up so anyone who would like a place in the audience (it's free!), click the link below and feel free to come along.

We've also just confirmed our panel list for tomorrow's podcast - Bec Hill, Daniel Berg, Arron Ferguson of Not The Adventures of Moleman and one-half of Max and Ivan will be joining us.

Great to see you on the forum and well done for covering EdFringe so well.

The Adam and Joe XFM podcasts were amazing, you can still download them too - http://www.xfm.co.uk/Sectional.asp?b=onair&id=8850 - I'd recommend not listening to them in public (i.e. on the bus) you'll get some funny looks.

'How Did This Get Made?' is really good fun. They talk about wonderfully bad films; latest ep they were joined by Kevin Smith, talking about 'The Wild Wild West'.

I've had a scout around to try and get into some more podcasts but the WTF and ComedyBangBang are the only ones I keep coming back to.

Although I tend to skip over Marc Marons intro (something grating about his personality), WTF is definitely top of the pile, some amazing guests and insights.

ComedyBangBang gives more entertainment value compared to the way WTF tends to delve into the career of the guests. It gets some equally great guests though that I could listen to any day, like Bill Burr, Michael Cera, David Cross, Zach Galifinakis, Paul F Tompkins and Bob Odenkirk.

I've yet to find a decent UK focused podcast that brings in top comedians from this side of the Atlantic. Anybody recommend something along that line?

Richard Herring's latest podcast series has a lot of funny British people being interviewed.

The Dave Weekly?

Another good American one, when it has on someone you've heard of, would be 'You Made It Weird, With Pete Holmes'.

If you like hearing two people larking about you could try the one I do with my mate: http://iddonandrichards.podbean.com/ There's nothing scripted, it's just general chit chat.

If you are interested in the "nuts and bolts" of being a stand up comedian then I can highly recommend Stuart Goldsmith's "Comedian's Comedian" podcast.

Some brilliant guests from both sides of the Atlantic and from Down Under (Oz and NZ).
