Sanford and Son

I'm going to New York this week and I want to bring back a few DVD's. I'm interested in getting a DVD of Sanford and Son, as it is an American version of one of my all time favourite sitcoms Steptoe and Son. It has never aired on British television so I was wondering if one of our American members of the forum could recommend I get it or not.
I'm also interested in bringing back a series of Good Times, which was remade in Britain as The Fosters. I watched an episode on YouTube about a year ago and it looked good.

I never had a chance to see it when it was on TV all the time. You see, my parents were very open minded people. It's pretty good, and has some great one-liners. Good Times is good too. Just make sure you get early seasons. They seem to be the ones that my friends and I like more. Does that help??

I can't believe it has never been broadcast in the UK! It was a staple of late afternoon TV in Australia in the late 70s and the 80s. Redd Foxx was great. I think Demond Wilson (who plays the son) is now a born-again Christian and appears on chat shows about former TV stars. Perhaps the only flaw of Sanford and Son is that Demond Wilson is nowhere near as good as Harry H. Corbett was in Steptoe and Son. But for an undemanding child, it was great viewing.

Good Times (now in the specials bins in DVD shops here) was also fun, partly because of JJ's expressive teeth.

Very much so thankyou. I'll probably just get the first season of each.

Amazon appears to have the complete series of each show for $32.49, so for $65 you could get them both. Not bad for a total of 34 DVDs.

Wow, that is a good deal!
