Three words. Carrick is class.

He's been a rock in midfield. Nearly always dependable and honest. Not as visible a grafter as Park or Fletcher, most of his work passes unnoticed because of his nature and style of play. If he made himself more visible there'd be no debate about his value.

So that's it is it? He wears a cloak of invisibilty when he's not in the team. No wonder they win so often.

Cheating bastards!

Oops a Daisy.
Unfortunately I'm a Liverpool fan.

So much can change so quick in football.
Jack Massey is suddenly the BCG teams star player.
As soon as I realised he was in his twenties and not drawing a pension.

Oh dear!

Int: Anfield club house. Rafael Benitez and Reading manager Brian McDermott are having an after match drink. They have another drink together and then they have one more:
BRIAN: Shouldn't you f**k off now Rafa, it's the fourth round.

When I say star player, what I meant was...
:D :P

So they'll be joining Manchester United that day then!

Great maagerial decisions. Winning and Rafa takes off Gerard and Torres.

Torres and Gerrard both went off with injuries.

My phone is flooding with jokes at the minute. My favourites being:
What's the difference between Rafa Benitez and a Rampant Rabbit? A rampant rabbit's only got one weeping c**t near it.

Carlsberg don't sponser FA Cup fourth round teams, but if they did, they would probably be the best in the world.

Rafa Benitez walks into a library and asks the librarian for a book called 'Great FA Cup fourth round ties' The librarian replies 'F**k off, you'll lose it'

And are there similar ones for Manchester United?

How about this one?

Why did Alex Ferguson buy a third leash for his dog?

Because he's just lost two leads.

(Sorry - spur of the moment!)

Even though I'm a United fan, that's pretty good.

Only time I've seen 9 and 8 equal 11

I love seeing Liverpool suffer. They'll be playing championship football in two years.

Thet were a Championship team last night once Torres and Gerrard had gone off.

I had SlagB phone me up after Leeds. Did I return the call last night? No.

After Gerrard and Torres, Liverpool only have Benayoun, Reina, and Kuyt who are anywhere near reasonable players. Benayoun being the pick of those three.

This season seems to be proving that Gerrard is having his 'Keane midfield engine slump' a few years too early. I can't see him getting back to the standard of the last few seasons, and while I'd have killed to have him at Man U in the past, I wouldn't now.

Can't see Gerrard staying for another few more years of not even almost-rans. And Torres must be thinking he should be winning more at this stage of his career.

I actually felt sorry for Benitez last night. Although I dislike Liverpool, I felt sorry for Benitez, the man, in the after-match interview. He does strike me as a nice guy and I couldn't gloat at his obvious pain and discomfort under the rather aggressive questioning of the squad quality - whether it's true or not.

I hope they stick with Rafa because I like the guy and also because they'll never win the league with him in charge.

By Carrick tending to be invisible, I mean he isn't all over the pitch getting mentions from commentators like Fletcher and Park are on their best days, he seems to be used more for distribution and positional awareness. Different temperament and role could be why his value isn't as obvious to the team as Fletcher etc.
:)

I think it's a mental thing with the Liverpool players. When you miss out on something big by the skin of you teeth, the way they missed out on the title last season, it's very hard to summon up the same enthusiasm to do it all over again, after only a couple of months break.

Yep and made worse by the fact they blew it utterly while Man U were in Japan. It was so theirs and they frittered it.

:) A consolatory smile rather than a happy smile.
