You're all wordsmiths on here .

What tense do footballers/commentators speak in?

e.g. He's put the ball over and I've knocked it into the net.

Errr

I think it's the present perfect, or at least extremely bad usage thereof.

happy birthday giggs :)

Chelsea and Arsenal today. Hope for any result that doesn't involve Chelsea winning as to keep them in touching distance with United. But I won't be watching it, the game I'm going to watch tonight is Barcelona vs Real Madrid. Has the makings of a classic match that this season. Is on Sky Sports 1 after the Chelsea and Arsenal match but you have to press the red button to view it. The pubs round my way don't seem to know this, but I hope it will get to see it.
And yes, happy birthday to Ryan Giggs. He put in a true vintage performance yesterday, what a player. I know Mr Chapman hates Manchester United, but what is your opinion of Giggs?

Yet another pub has rang up to say they can't get it. Will probably give it a miss then. May watch Arsenal and Chelsea instead.

Rang another pub up and they assure me it will be on.

arsenal could do with someone like giggs for f**ks sake.

oh and world player of the years announced soon isnt it.. who do you think will get it?

I think ronaldo or iniesta deserves it but its almost a certainty messi will get it

Watched Barca and Real tonight. That Spanish league is far too dirty and there is also far too much diving. Busquettes was unlucky to be sent off, but Diarra deserved to be.

ronaldo thinks the defenders in spain actually go for the ball unlike in england, but there is far far more diving in spain. as for the match, ronaldo shouldve scored but barcelona are still better as a unit imo

Diarra deserved to be.

That makes a change!

How long do you think Baron Greenback will get?

Apparently the FAI are asking FIFA to allow Ireland into the World Cup as a 33rd team.

Is it really going to happen?

FIFA never wanted Ireland to qualify at the expense of an "important" country like France.

I'm afraid I can't fault him. The rest are a load of *****s though.

I see Scotland are looking into moving their season to the summer.

WTF?

It's bloody tradition. Football on Boxing Day and Easter.

It's only since FIFA started fiddling around with the calendar and putting loads of meaningless internationals in that it causes back logs. Everything used to get completed with much more extreme weather.

IF only.

There's more chance of a rocking horse having a shite.

big surprise messi got the world player of the year....
ronaldo 2nd, xavi 3rd iniesta 4th nd kaka 5th I think..

ibra was something like 7th and rooney got 8th which was weird, especially considering drogba was 9th and fabregas got like 12th..

ronaldo will get it again next year though

Footy games don't make any sense though, they just don't work. In reality, you are controlling one player and the computer is controlling 21! It really boils down to whether the commy randomly decides to score more than you and whether it actually lets you score. It's practically the only type of computer game where it doesn't matter a jot how well you play as to whether you win the game or not.

Pro Evo (from 2009 onwards) has a 'Become A Legend' mode where you take one player (you) and control just that one player through a whole career. It's utterly awesome!
