Takes a bit of settling down after not being in the top flight for over 40 years.

Is Frank Worthington still playing?

I was going to say the very same thing.

What a load of bollocks. Just add it on like I used to do when I refereed. Halves often lasted 55 minutes.

I suggest if a foul is committed that would be a red card, instead of sending the player off, the team that committed it must stand still for 30 seconds after the free kick is taken.
Just as daft as their ideas.

This wouldn't be the first time that Germany have fiddled a result to get through a tournament.

Watched a couple of the England games. There is a lot of talent there if they can transition to the big-boys.

But no better than the seniors at penalties.

Unfortunately not.

Bloody Germans!

... and the "video assistant referee" (VAR) is rubbish. It still relies on the referee's interpretation (or that of his colleagues) even once he's looked at the incident again and so actually resolves nothing. And for the referee to leave the field of play and turn his back on the 22 highly charged players while he watches a TV screen is simply asking for the situation to exacerbate.

They're the Manchester United* of the International football world.

* And Bayern Munich.

My club, Sutton United's first game of the season on 5th August is home to Leyton Orient who were relegated from the League. 12.30 kick off so probably live on BT.

Community Shield will be here soon.

Who remembers this one? Quite a lively match!

I was there!

Interestingly the referee that day, Bob Matthewson (who had played for Bolton Wanderers as I recall), had been the linesman in the 1970 Cup Final replay:

I was there too. Easier to get tickets than the cup final.

Those were the days when (Scots) men were men.
